AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS HAVE THE HIGHEST ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN THE US

Good for you, good for him .. which is not to suggest that military life isn't an honorable life .. but the sacrifices are incredible. Raising your own children is just one of them.

I want to share this with you .. whenever my daughter is overseas on tour .. especially in combat zones .. I have frequent nightmares. It's about the only time I've ever had nightmares. I've never told my daughter about them, but when she was in Iraq, they came almost daily.
I can not imagine, it was horrible being an Aunt. I saw it in my sisters. Hugs

ok. so your saying that the universities in Africa are the equal of Universities in America? :)
I'll put it this way. Is Southeastern Louisiana University up to the standards of Harvard?
I've got a friend that graduated from SLU, raised middle class, who has started and sold 3 companies, the last to Halliburton for $10,000,000.
I've also known a couple of Harvard grads that haven't done shit with their lives.
It's up to the individual.:wink3:

Sometimes when we talk, I can hear the anxiety in her voice. I'll say to her, baby you're braver then I am.

Comforting words .. it's all parents have to offer when your child is thousands of miles away from you in places where many want to see them dead.

I'm sure that you and your sisters can relate.

obviously they aren't one of the shithole countries......
Nigeria is extremely corrupt however,,I don't know if that confers shithole status. But that oil money is corrosive

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/10-most-corrupt-countries-ranked-by-perception
Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, is perceived to be the most corrupt among 80 countries evaluated, according to data from the 2017 Best Countries rankings, a characterization based on a survey of more than 21,000 global citizens. This is the second year in a row it took the No. 1 spot.

In the survey, respondents answered how closely they related each of the 80 countries to the term "corrupt." Respondents were given no further specifications of the term, so interpretation of the word "corrupt" was left to survey respondents.

Like you I have an offspring that considered joining the military and like you I wasn't pleased but I wasn't going to discourage him except - if he joined he was completely on his own from that point on. He didn't join and has done well.

How loving is that.

"If you don't do what I want, I'll disown you"

Here is a headline you won't see on Fox news or a national news station...

Amazing. Thanks for posting. Mind if I butt in?

Here is a photo (used with permission of course) of my friend from Africa. She was born in S. Africa, raised in Zimbabwe, moved to a Caribbean country whose name I've forgotten in her 20s, where she worked for a wildlife preserve. She moved to STL 13 years ago where she still lives. I met her as a volunteer at the raptor sanctuary near STL; she was our own birds' caretaker when we were out of town for some years. She has a bachelors in communication and is working towards a masters. She serves on two boards of directors for nonprofits, and is a freelance nonprofit fund-raising specialist as well, in the fields of animal welfare and low-income advocacy. She is a lovely person inside and out, and a model citizen, but if the Orange Turd has his way America would not be benefiting from her passion, talent, experience, and spirit.

I agree with you. If Trump had his way, we'll be cut off from the world .. although I'm sure he'd like to give your friend a 'pass.' :0)

But focus on the good news .. Trump will not get his way and his very presence has opened a gateway to a brighter future. A door for people of conscience, people of compassion, to reach out and touch of people in ways that we never have before.

Speaking of Africa .. an African voice for you ..

I love Sade’, very gifted singer.

Data show Nigerians the most educated in the U.S.

I certainly worked with some highly capable Nigerian engineers and geoscientists.

I am not going to name any names, but we all know this board is infested with vapid, dull witted, barely educated, semi-literate rightwingers and Trumptards.

If I could act on behalf of United States Immigration and Naturalization, would I trade these resentful rightwing losers for some capable and dedicated Nigerians? In a New York minute, man...

individuals get in with merit, no matter where they are from.

There are still national limits, but those applying for immigration get rated on what skill sets they bring,
not just who they are related to

Thank you so much. Just bought this song from Amazon.

Despite the dogshit smeared all over the WH currently, I feel like you do -- a better day is coming. The selection of the Trumpstain was the last dying gasp of a nation in the midst of change, the death throes of a dying dinosaur of imperialism. Whenever I see one of his ass-lickers saying that they voted for him because they're sick of PC -- dog whistle for "I want to be able to call ppl spicks and kikes and slants and jigs and fags and cunts whenever I want and you can't tell me not to"... I know we're winning.
