AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS HAVE THE HIGHEST ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN THE US

That's fine...I've had to get things clarified a lot in life...like they say...blonds are not always the sharpest knife in the drawer. But, it does make us try harder. LOL

:0) Try being black .. but I clear up that confusion by self-identifying who I am.

No it isn't, no it doesn't.

The purpose of this thread was to demonstrate the known ignorance of Donald Trump, and to piss on the meme that black people are inherently stupid .. that only whites come to this country to excel and become responsible citizens. GPA's don't have shit to do with it, an only introduced into this conversation in a desperate attempt to try to denigrate the accomplishments of African immigrants.

The GPA / affirmative action argument is seriously flawed and decidedly nonintellectual. It's the 'how is it possible that Africans can be as smart of smarter than a white man' argument.

GPA / affirmative action doesn't count in the real world outside of school. In the corporate / business world, performance counts .. and with the application of just a tad bit of intellect, one can quite easily ascertain that if indeed African immigrants are being successful in the corporate / business environment, then quite obviously they are performing to standards and beyond.

Too right, you are.
I have never been asked in any interview for a professional job what my GPA was, and I don't know anyone else in the professional world who has.

The only time GPA makes a nominal difference is applying for law school, med school, or grad schools.

Having a degree in in a relevant field from an accredited and respected university is what gets your foot in the door. The rest is based on personality, confidence, and many other intangibles.

Some of the most respected professionals I have worked with were got C's and B's as undergrads.

The professionals I worked with from the continent of Africa stand head and shoulders above most of the rightwing losers I have had the displeasure of running across on the interwebs.

^I've had that train station video in my 'Favorites' for eons. She had that signature sound going on long before Chuck Berry or Little Richard. Here she is with a packed house in Paris in 1964................

Thanks. I wasn't aware of her until now.

I've worked in the corporate environment for almost half my life .. never once asked what my GPA was.

I got in the door because I passed the technical tests and was good on in the technical interviews.

This issue made me tear up the Black History presentation I'd prepared for Black History Month. Last year I did 6, this year there are 11. This year the focus will be less on African-American, more on African, and an extension of last year's Black Wall Street presentation .. with an homage to 'The Awakening of Intelligence.'

I'm excited about it.

That sounds awesome.

I got lucky and started working in jazz clubs in Miami when I was 19...got quite an education.

Must have been exciting.

I grew up in Detroit during the Motown years. I've had lots of exposure to singers and musicians in my life. I was fortunate to become good friends with Issac Hayes.

Exciting and eye-opening. Taught me to appreciate who I am, not dream of being in the shoes of others, especially celebrities.

Yes she is playing a Gibson custom SG with three pickups, very unusual setup.

Here is a headline you won't see on Fox news or a national news station....

Yes! I have much respect for the Nigerian immigrants I have met. They are far more valuable to this country than the ignorant, uneducated southern trailer trash that want to keep them and other respectable groups from coming to this country on the basis of their race.

:0) Welcome aboard.

I take the opportunity to interact with people and impart a slice of Black History that many may not be aware very seriously. It's a blessing and I am humbled by it.

I admire you for that. Studying the history of one's ancestors is, I find, riveting and gratifying.
I really need to up my game on African history. I have been studying English, Viking, Greek, and Chinese history recently, but Africa is real a black hole for me!

I am a fan of the scholarly educational Great Courses videos, and I am going to have to search around for this one....

Yes you have a country awash with oil but long queues for petrol, people that drill holes in pipelines and cause massive casualties from fire. It is also home of the 419 scam and is one of the most corrupt countries on the planet.

I have a good friend in London called Roland Akintunde, yes he is Nigerian, and he will attest to all that I say.

tons of Drs

I wish facts meant something to the republicans

Something very important was left out.

We're only talking about a group of the brightest from Africa. If all you send is the very best you have, the results are likely to be skewed especially when compared to ALL Americans including those of African heritage that lower the results on behalf of the U.S.

To make a valid comparison, you'd have to either drop out the lowest in the U.S. and compare the best to the best or include the results of the Africans still on the continent of Africa. I bet those results would be something BAC, et. al would likely not want reported.

Never said otherwise. It's pretty common knowledge Nigeria has a highly corrupt government that doesn't give a shit about it's people. That's why many want to come here. And we should let them, because despite the conditions where they come from they tend to be very intelligent, respectable people that have alot to offer this country.

Let them stay and work out their own problems.

Absolutely. Plant literally submerged himself in American blues roots. I like to say that he an 'old soul' at a young age.

Yes some are, I would agree. But there are many that only want to run scams and bilk the system as well.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of her until now.

Glad you liked that video. She gets that old Gibson humming. That's always my official "dancin'-around-the-kitchen-while-I'm-sweeping-the-floor-and-singin'-with-her" selection. LOL! The woman really does give you happy feet.
