Look at the discussions regarding pensions and Medicare and other social programs. People are in the streets demonstrating about social justice. Who is going to speak for the children in orphanages, a million of them added each year, from women who were...shall we say....wayward? Where will orphanages fit on the list of government priorities? If it's difficult to find sympathy for an elderly woman who is unable to buy both food and medicine how much sympathy will a crying baby receive?

Your story above was touching, but it was just that, anecdotal, and not indicative of what every woman thinks or what would work on any other woman in that situation. I still hold that the time to exercise 'birth control' is before the act conceives a child.

Did you notice that when he told his little "story" about the friend of his, that was thinking about her aborted child, that he took her to the "poor side of town" and showed her what her "life would have been"; he didn't take her to a college and let her talk to single mothers who are getting an education. He just automatically assumes that EVERY single mother is going to be doomed to a life of abject misery and poverty.
But then; maybe Canada doesn't allow single mothers to "rise above their station" and he's part of that reason.
