Active shooter situation in Maine, hospital says 'mass casualty, mass shooter' event

He was a law abiding gun owner.

Until he wasn’t.

According to the gun law on the books in Maine his guns should have been taken away and he should have been flagged and banned from buying one...THAT DIDNT HAPPEN

This nut made threats to shoot up blow up an Army base and NOTHING WAS DONE Maines gun law was ignored by Maine

To issue a yellow flag order, a person is taken into protective custody by police and brought to a hospital. Officers fill out a statement arguing that they’ve determined a person is a danger to themselves or others and how they know the person has access to a weapon.

That all gets evaluated and sent to a judge, who makes the official order that an officer must serve within 24 hours. Within 14 days, there’s a hearing to determine if the order will stay in place.

Anyone under a restriction cannot possess or buy any weapons and faces arrest if they do. They’re also put on a registry that’s sent out to licensed gun dealers. If they didn’t give their weapons to a family member for safekeeping, police will seize them until the order is lifted.

This law was not enforced on this nut and it should have been....if it had been GOOD chance the shooting may have never happened

like I asked badguy, do you think the government should prohibit individuals from owning any tool or weapon that could be used to hurt people?

You're the one putting the "any tool" stipulation on that, in a pathetic attempt to tee up a counter argument about hammers or some retarded shit.

yes, because it exposes your hypocritical bullshit. you either want to save lives, or you only want to remove something from society that you fear. Since you don't want to remove all dangerous implements of violence from civilians to save lives, it then becomes obvious that you only want guns taken away because they terrify you. If that is truly the case, you need to start with government entities, given the over 262 million deaths that they have wrought upon their own populations.

he also does not want to keep people locked up, MANY MANY people have been killed by people out on bail and out early on parole ...keeping them locked up would save life's but he is against it

Correct. Same goes for the old geezer who runs down a bunch of people at a bus stop; he was a law-abiding driver....until he wasn't.

The problem here isn't the guns but nutjobs who have access to guns. The vast majority of mass shootings like this were known to be nutjobs before they committed mass murder; Nikolas Cruz, Dylann Roof, and Payton Gendron. Why weren't they stopped, treated and sent off to have a happy life?

Note that Darrell E. Brooks Jr., the Waukesha Christmas Parade killer of 6, injuring 62, had multiple crimes against him including rape and gun charges and a history domestic violence. His mother noted that he had a long history of mental health problems, duh, but couldn't afford treatment. TBH, most nutjobs don't seek treatment unless forced and I doubt Brooks would have been any different. He was a "law abiding driver until he wasn't".

Mental health is nothing more than a diversionary tactic dreamed up by a pro-gun person/group to divert from the REAL issue. The proliferation of guns.

The US has no more mental health illness than any other country.

Great, we can agree on gun confiscation for large parts of the population.

thankfully I don't have to worry too much about your classifications because they aren't worth anything to anyone

“Vehicles cannot be necessary” in a modern society because they are not mentioned in the Constitution.

That is the number one ‘derp’ comment ever made on this forum.

Congrsts!

LIE LIE LIE

More U.S. adults have received mental health diagnoses than adults in other high-income countries.

Among adults in high-income countries, those in the U.S. were most likely to have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or other mental health conditions by a doctor. In 2016, nearly one-quarter (23%) of U.S. adults reported a mental health diagnosis, compared to fewer than 10 percent of adults in France, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Those laws have proved time and time again to be ineffective. AR-15's need to be removed from circulation, starting with outlawing sale and possession.

it's too bad that you're lying about it..............again. this is why your classifications are worthless and unimportant to those of us in reality

we decline to acquiesce to your request. your move.

do you not think that there are hundreds of us out here who know how to machine our own weapons? I can make 10 AR-15s a month on my own.

Gun laws that reduce the access to guns that are specifically designed as weapons of war for the most effective mass human casualty events.

Like seriously let's look at any number of other countries' laws where this almost never happens. They must be doing SOMETHING different enough than us to prevent these atrocities.

Which would be a criminal offense and something few people would do or be loony enough to learn how to do even if legally they could.
