Active shooter situation in Maine, hospital says 'mass casualty, mass shooter' event

You can't legislate fully against crazy .... but you can at least keep weapons that make them more effective amateur killers out of their reach. Just saying.

Maine had a chance to do that with this nut with a gun law that is on the books....AND DIDNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy was SCREAMING I am a danger I want to kill... and they didn't do shit!!!!

So how is that the NRAs fault?

I guess the question is 'why didn't he just do that before killing so many innocents?'

If he's as disturbed as the authorities and the media are saying he is, there would likely not be a clear answer to that question.

You'd first have to know why he picked the bar and the bowling alley. I've heard some speculate that he was looking for an ex-girlfriend.

Or maybe the voices told him he had to exact some type of retribution against society and those places were selected at random or possibly for some strategic reasoning.

Maybe they provided him with a better escape route due to their locations.

I dunno. :dunno:

Because anytime gun control legislation fails to be passed by any legislative body anywhere, it's because the NRA and their ass-lickers in the GOP stood in the way and blocked it.

This is what the asshole right wants.

We can only hope the dead were all Trumpers.

The Yellow Flag gun law PASSED in Maine and they didnt follow it

there is no 2nd Amendment right to commit mass murder. This is a false canard you idiots like to use because you hate rights and freedom in regards to guns

Without the 2nd Amendment, there would not be the ocean of easily obtainable firearms that we are drowning in.

Without the overabundance of easily obtainable firearms that exists today, we wouldn't be seeing the unprecedented level of gun related crime and death that we are experiencing.

It's so simple anyone can understand it, but those who worship and need their guns as a security blanket just refuse to admit they understand it.

Correct, there is just a 2nd amendment right that lets you own the tools used to easily commit mass murder.

Its a tool that can be used to save your life ..and has saved thousands of lives

A truck can be used as a tool for mass murder

But not to save your life

overabundance of easily obtainable firearms that exists today

It was way more easy in 1960 and 1980 to get a gun....they were hanging on gun racks in pickup trucks at HS parking lots

Buy them all day long without a computer check etc

The NRA is responsible for the insane number of guns in America which in turn, causes the failure of gun control laws simply because the system is overwhelmed.

"....a 2023 Maine Deadly Force Review found the law is "not being used on a regular and responsive basis," often due to a "lack of available medical practitioners."

Without the NRA's meddling, we could have passed effective restrictions on the number of guns being produced in the US decades ago.

Nonsense.

Guns have been used to murder far more people than they've saved.

And a truck can be used to transport a severely injured person to an ER.

like I asked badguy, do you think the government should prohibit individuals from owning any tool or weapon that could be used to hurt people?

Give up the bullshit “in 1960” argument. 1960 was 63 years ago. It will never be 1960 again.

Stupid fucking argument

as we've seen throughout the last century, governments with guns have murdered over 262 MILLION of their own citizens.........so if you're wanting to remove weapons of mass death, start with government

He was a law abiding gun owner.

Until he wasn’t.

Correct. Same goes for the old geezer who runs down a bunch of people at a bus stop; he was a law-abiding driver....until he wasn't.

The problem here isn't the guns but nutjobs who have access to guns. The vast majority of mass shootings like this were known to be nutjobs before they committed mass murder; Nikolas Cruz, Dylann Roof, and Payton Gendron. Why weren't they stopped, treated and sent off to have a happy life?

Note that Darrell E. Brooks Jr., the Waukesha Christmas Parade killer of 6, injuring 62, had multiple crimes against him including rape and gun charges and a history domestic violence. His mother noted that he had a long history of mental health problems, duh, but couldn't afford treatment. TBH, most nutjobs don't seek treatment unless forced and I doubt Brooks would have been any different. He was a "law abiding driver until he wasn't".
