No doubt whatever he said was taken totally out of context, as well. He is correct to state that pedophilia is part of the human sexuality spectrum. Pedophiles are likely born that way. There is no "cure" for it. My guess is that the professor was discussing this, and suggesting that since pedophiles cannot be treated nor locked up forever, maybe using computer-generated images might prevent them from acting on their disgusting urges. I don't know since I don't open the kind of links these Reichwing whackjobs always post.

Yes, I’m going to ignore it, because the majority of people do not care what adults do in their personal lives, but the majority, like myself will protect children from adults who wish to prey on them.

This will, of course, get tons of attention from the far right, because it whips the yahoos into a fury. But we're talking about a single academic none of us had ever heard of before the right-wingers found his positions politically convenient.
That said, here's a question: what would your position by on computer-generated material of that sort, if research were to definitively show it actually REDUCES victimization of actual children? That is, if such material sated the demand for material of that sort, for most of those interested in it, so that there was significantly less use of actual children in creating it, would you support legalizing the material? Similarly, if this material were effectively a "relief valve" that resulted in pedophiles being more likely to self-gratify to deal with their urges, rather than preying on actual kids, such that it resulted in fewer kids being victimized, would you support legalizing?
I'm not saying those things are true. I haven't seen any studies one way or the other. But if it were true, would you support legalization, or would you prefer to have more children victimized, as a price worth paying for preventing the creation of victimless material you find repulsive?
The slope isn't at all slippery. There have always been isolated people who thought pedophilia should be normalized. There's no sign there are any more of them now than in the past, much less that things like legalizing gay marriage had any role at all in that.
