Abortion Backlash Freaking Out Republicans

Women choose to decide what they will do with their own bodies. Its an issue that republicans will continue to lose on.

shall we start posting pictures of what women's bodies look like after the abortion is over and PP is selling the body parts for stem cell research?......

No, they did not, Marty.

Which political party controls Wisconsin?
The Republican Party controls both chambers of the state legislature.

As of April 5, 2023, there are 22 Republican trifectas, 17 Democratic trifectas, and 11 divided governments where neither party holds trifecta control.

AOC believes the courts aren't even a branch of government......

Martin is a male name and as such is unable to bear children. As such you have no say in the abortion issue. Abortion is a moral issue and should be between a woman and her maker. As a male I can only offer my opinions on the subject.

Yet so many (R) males think that it is perfectly fine to dictate to females what they can or cannot do with their own bodies. Notice how they never bring up anything to do with encouraging young males to take all necessary precautions to avoid causing a pregnancy?

You are correct. We Michigan voters not only passed a constitutional amendment last year protecting reproductive freedom, we also elected the first (D) majority house, senate, and executive branch in years. Yesterday, our governor signed the repeal of Michigan's 1931 anti-abortion law to make sure that women have as much freedom to not be a parent as men have.
Gretchen would be a great President.

After the Republican Party’s disappointing performance in the 2022 midterms, fueled in large part by a backlash to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, the Republican National Committee recommitted itself to anti-abortion maximalism.

A resolution adopted at the R.N.C.’s winter meeting in January urges Republican lawmakers “to pass the strongest pro-life legislation possible.” Addressing their party’s poor showing in November, it said that Republicans hadn’t been aggressive enough in defending anti-abortion values, urging them to “go on offense in the 2024 election cycle.”

The 11-point loss of the Republican-aligned candidate in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election on Tuesday has influential conservatives rethinking this strategy. “Republicans had better get their abortion position straight, and more in line with where voters are, or they will face another disappointment in 2024,” said a Wall Street Journal editorial.

Ann Coulter tweeted, “The demand for anti-abortion legislation just cost Republicans another crucial race,” and added, “Please stop pushing strict limits on abortion, or there will be no Republicans left.” Jon Schweppe, policy director of the socially conservative American Principles Project, lamented, “We are getting killed by indie voters who think we support full bans with no exceptions.”

Seeming to care more about protecting guns than school children probably isn't a good look either, and it gives a lie to the "sanctity of life" claim.

The recent expelling of two black male representatives in Tennessee adds weight to the accusation the Party of Trump = the White Supremacist Party.

1. They seek to subjugate women.
2. They seek to subjugate black men for being uppity but not the white men who attacked disrupted Congress on 1/6.
3. They blame the Nashville school massacre on Wokeness and Transgenderism, not known nutjobs with guns.

middle ground.......only 10% of blacks may be slaves........you can only put Jews in concentration camps on even numbered days.......

Unless you have the votes, which Republicans don’t, you can either compromise or watch it go further away from what you want. And Republicans may have the votes in certain red states but as we’ve already seen it will cost them in purple to blue leaning ones.

I agree 100%. She is smart, tough, comes w/o scandals and massive baggage. She stands up to tyranny and bullying. She does what is right for the people -- ALL the people -- even if it's so unpopular that some of them tried to kidnap and kill her. I don't think we're ready to give her up though.

I may be wrong but I think the fuss is about all the fatalities.......many think killing your unborn children is the antithesis of civilization......go figure where silly ideas come from.......

We know where one silly idea comes from when we see someone classify the unborn as "children".

From a moral standpoint abortion is not strictly about a woman's body. At fertilization a woman is now carrying a separate and distinct life form that will become a human being.

They invited the Christian Taliban to take over their party decades ago, what else did they expect?

Nobody actually believes a human life begins at conception.

Nobody on this board would risk injury to rush into a burning fertility clinic to save some petri dishes of blastocysts.

May become a human being....not that it matters since human beings have been gleefully killing other human beings since the dawn of time.

Notice how many Trumpers not only didn't give a shit about the murders of George Floyd or Tyre Nichols but applauded the deaths. Serendipity advocates the murder of US Congressional reps. STY advocates the murder of FBI agents and their supporters.

should daughters also be counselled on how to avoid pregnancy?

This will hurt Republicans unless they can come up with a coherent message. Polling has shown for awhile, a majority of people support abortion - with restrictions. They don't believe in unlimited abortion and they also don't believe in banning it. Those on the right who basically want it made illegal don't have national support and it will show in (losing) elections.

^ It showed in PA in 2022. Abortion rights advocates came out in force against Mastriano and his extreme positions.
