The US doesn't need the rest of the world. We could shut our borders now and refuse any trade and we'd be fine. We are lacking no natural resources.

Most uranium comes from overseas, rubber, aluma ore, electronics, semiconductors, And many other things.

We have plenty of petroleum offshore or in Alaska. Bauxite used to be mined a few miles from here- and still could be. Uranium and other ores are within our borders, just not as cheap to mine than other areas. We invented and built the first IC systems and computers, and can easily build them again.

Why do we import the majority of our oil then?
And don't give me that environmentalists crap either.

Check out the known oil reserves in the USA and divide by current consumption.
You will love having to shovel coal into your steam powered car every hour or so.

Also most I think of our medicines are made overseas.

And are you for nationalizing the foreign companies that are located here like Hugo did?

2 Cheaper.

having them made overseas removes no liability from the producer.
