If those were the only factors, you might have a point.
The cocaine use in the USA is 2.8% and in the UK its only 2.4% of the populations.
In the USA we consume 1,196 cigarettes per adult per year. In the UK its only 790.
In the USA we commit suicide at a rate of 11.1 per 100,000. In the UK its only 6.8 per 100,000.
The United States is a nation known for excesses and for "I want it now" attitudes. Consequently, our violent crime rates run higher. We also have more personal freedoms than most nations our size, so its harder to control the criminal population. And no where on earth is celebrity status more prized and education (for its own sake) less prized than here.
In other words, you can claim gun bans are an answer only if you have not looked closely at the problem and the cultural differences.

Countries that have banned guns didn't see a significant drop in violent crime rates. That alone negates your point.
There are 63 million gun owners in the USA. There were 10,086 murders with guns in the US in 2007. Even if you claim that all were committed with legally owned guns, it still means only 0.016% of the gun owners committed a murder. And yet you want to punish the other 99.98% in the hope that things will change. The legal gun owners are not the issue, nor are the guns themselves. It is the violent criminal who is released over and over that is the problem.
Before you take away the personal freedoms of 300+ million people, how about locking up the people who commit violent crimes and leaving them there?
Also, find the stats for the number of murders committed with guns, by people who could legally buy a gun, and see what a tiny percentage that is. The gun ban won't work.
You keep quoting the total murders number, but that is not the number of gun related murders.
In 2007 (the most recent year I found data for) there were 1,796 murders with knives. In the same year 134 people were strangled, 647 were beaten with a blunt object, and 854 were killed with hands & feet.

You keep trying to claim that we are parrotting the NRA talking points. But all you offer is a blank comparison between dissimilar countries. You have not looked at the murder rates before the bans in England and France. Nor have you found any basis for the "less guns = less murders" nonsense.
What small reduction in murders you would gain with the gun ban would be overwhelmingly negated by the inability of law abiding citizens to defend themselves against violent criminals.
