A reality check on the corona virus reactions.

That might be the same for other small towns in America...something not touted on network news. My thing is the numbers just don't jibe with this "it's 90% fatal!" mantra. This stuff has been in the general population for 6 weeks before our national health departments got their butts in gear.....by their reckoning, people should be dropping like flies by now. It's OVER-reaction.

One...I have NEVER heard the 90% fatal number anywhere...NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THAT. Chances are the rate will be less than 2%...even for old-geezers like me.

No problemo for the people who feel everything is being over-hyped. Go out and enjoy yourselves. Have parties,,,get-togethers. Send your kids to school...and church. Go to work...mingle with your co-workers.

Those of us who live in or near New York City have to be a lot more careful.

But there is nothing wrong with you guys who see no danger being more free-wheeling and care-free.

What could go wrong?

The general theory here is that covid 19 is not desperately serious for the majority of people, but for certain vulnerable groups the death rate is around 15% - and you can't ever be certain you're not in those groups. It is clearly extremely contagious, and when a lot of people get it, a lot of vulnerable people end up in hospital, swamping the available equipment, particularly of beds with ventilators available, so that there's a real danger of people's dying, and not only of covid 19, because the doctors get infected or worn out. It's a question, really, of whether you can finance people to stay quiet under a sort of house arrest, and the times they are talking about seem to me a bit hopeful! I'd heard New Your was getting it bad. Isn't it?

While I AM NOT saying that precautions shouldn't be taken regarding Covid-19, I can't help but look at the sheer numbers and come to the conclusion that the vast majority of the near hysteria prompted by our state and local governments is over-rated. Check this out:

I'm willing to discuss this rationally with anyone who is willing to put grudges aside.

No you won't. Stop lying.

I haven't seen those items in stock since the 10th.

We could have bought them all two days ago. We did get eggs, which apparently was the second most hoarded item after toilet paper. We don't need paper products, we have enough without buying more right now. Though we did see them all in the store.

On one hand, you have the military generals who work without slant and bias saying it will be late June or July before it gets better. You have doctors and hospital staff who are on the ground floor saying it is getting worse and worse. They can project when they will be unable to handle the deluge of Corona patients.
On the other side, you have Trump saying what he thinks benefits him in the election. I know what side the rightys are on. Forget scientists and the generals. Trump knows more than anyone ever did.

My guess is that by the end of this week...certainly by the end of next week...New York City will be considered the epicenter of the Coronavirus throughout the world.

They are getting hammered!

The first US case was reported on Jan 20, 2020 54 days later 25 Mar 2020 there are 54,428 confirmed cases in all 50 states.
I would hardly call our response Federal and local an hysterical over reaction oh I have never heard a 90% death rate.

I live in a small town...pop 4,149..picked up bread milk and ground chuck and yes toilet paper today

Never been any lines at the store!

Im in a small town too, but not that small,...about 15,000. Here the stores are empty shelves all over. Walmart and all the other grocery type stores are all in the same boat. No shortages....all caused simply by panic buying. Nothing more. If people would just smarten the hell up and but their normal routine when they shop there would be no empty shelves at all.

Well the economy might not go down the crapper for a start!

If supply cannot meet demand, that is by definition a shortage.

600 corpses in this country alone are unable to accept your invitation, evil fucking moron.

Ahhh...so the question is: What could go wrong?

And your answer is, "...the economy might not go down the crapper...!"

Interesting.

You must be a conservative.

So tell that to all the people that may lose their jobs, houses, relationships and maybe take their own lives. Only a heartless cunt would say such an evil thing.
