A prelude to collusion to affect an American Presidential election.

So?

Three days after Donald Trump named his campaign foreign policy team in March 2016, the youngest of the new advisers sent an email to seven campaign officials with the subject line: “Meeting with Russian Leadership - Including Putin.”

The adviser, George Papadopoulos, offered to set up “a meeting between us and the Russian leadership to discuss US-Russia ties under President Trump,” telling them his Russian contacts welcomed the opportunity, according to internal campaign emails read to The Washington Post.

The proposal sent a ripple of concern through campaign headquarters in Trump Tower. Campaign co-chairman Sam Clovis wrote that he thought NATO allies should be consulted before any plans were made. Another Trump adviser, retired Navy Rear Adm. Charles Kubic, cited legal concerns, including a possible violation of U.S. sanctions against Russia and of the Logan Act, which prohibits U.S. citizens from unauthorized negotiation with foreign governments.

But Papadopoulos, a campaign volunteer with scant foreign policy experience, persisted. Between March and September, the self-described energy consultant sent at least a half-dozen requests for Trump, as he turned from primary candidate to party nominee, or for members of his team to meet with Russian officials.

Among those to express concern about the effort was then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who rejected in May 2016 a proposal from Papadopoulos for Trump to do so.

:rofl2:

You dont think Rump knew how Manafort made his money before he hired the guy?

Again, link us up to what evidence you have that Trump knew of the laundering of money.

Manafort didn't tell the DoJ about the lobbying he was doing. What makes you so certain he would tell Trump?

The lobbying firm Manafort worked for worked for Reagan, Clinton, GW Bush etc... so yeah, he had a lot of knowledge of how DC worked and how to work the system. Not shocking that an outsider like Trump would be convinced to hire him. That said, that doesn't mean Trump knew about the money laundering or lobbying efforts on behalf of the Ukrainian president.

From August:

Special counsel Robert Mueller is looking at a lobbying campaign Paul Manafort helped coordinate while he was working for the party of Kremlin-backed Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, a public relations executive who was subpoenaed told NBC.

It was not immediately clear what information the special counsel, who has a mandate to investigate matters surrounding alleged Moscow interference in the 2016 election, wants about the lobbying effort from 2012 to 2014.

How do you know, you keep speculating with no proof, no one knows what Mueller has, this seems to be wishful thinking on your part.

Based on the indictment, that is what it is certainly about thus far. Obviously more will come out. But this looks bad for Manafort and Gates obviously and most likely not good for Podesta.

Good, but not the Podesta you want people to believe you are talking about.

How does it look for george papadopoulos?

I know who John Podesta is.... That is not who I was asking about.

Clinton aide John "Pizza Boy" Podesta was so ‘instrumental’ in brokering the Uranium One deal in 2010 that he was paid $35 million from Russia the following year.

Not only did Clinton and Podesta take money from the Russians, Podesta was working with Manafort in Ukraine during Euromaidan. A job that later gets Manafort surveilled by Obama.

Podesta doesn't get in trouble and goes on to work for the White House.
