A Portrait of the Lunatic Left

America’s Suburbs Are Breeding Grounds for Fascism
https://www.thenation.com/article/society/target-pride-suburbs-fascism/

Some excerpts without comment:

And so it makes sense that these are now the places where fascism grows; that’s what these places were designed for. The suburbs were invented as a reactionary tool against the women’s liberation and civil rights movements.

Hate against trans people is rising, but the suburbs are what give this hate its fervor and popularity.

It is of course true that these mass hysterias are part of an organized right-wing movement that is attacking human rights across the country...

The suburban doctrine dictates that public space be limited, and conflict-free where it exists; that private space serve only as a place of commodity exchange; that surveillance, hyper-individualism, and constant vigilance are good and normal and keep people safe.

The anti-trans panic at the center of the Target controversy says something dark about American politics, but it says something even darker about the American landscape, about the places and ways we choose to live. Without a massive reorganization of American life—away from privatization, car-centrism, and hyper-individualism—it’s likely the suburban ideology will remain popular, and even grow.

The Regime long ago launched a war against suburbs. One of the many reasons they are importing many millions of people a year illegally is to have an excuse to make suburbs high density, which they expect to change the culture in their favor. Never forget that absolutely everything they do is either about power or UTOPIA or both.

The suburbs were invented because of train tracks. Anyone who could afford it moved away from the noise and smell.

Suburbs were invented by the Romans, possibly earlier. The modern iteration was made possible by the invention of the 'everyman' automobile (like Ford's Model T), improved roads, and the cost of building in urban areas. In the US, suburbs really took off after WW 2 due to several things:

First, workers and returning veterans were flush with cash and wanted to buy their own homes. Next, Abraham Levitt and his sons picked up on another WW 2 invention, the mass produced prefabricated, and cheap building. Levitt served in the SeaBees and saw these structures used all over the world. He copied many of the innovations that went into them to mass produce single family homes postwar. That idea was quickly copied by other developers who started putting up planned communities and suburban housing of their own along the same lines. Toss in that cars were affordable, gas was affordable, and highways and roads existed to make travel easy.

Why life in a stinking, polluted, crime ridden city in a high cost tiny apartment where you have to take the bus or subway full of sweaty assholes to and from everywhere when you can own a nice home on a lot with a good sized garden for your kids to play in? It was a no-brainer. Only losers or the uber rich lived full time in dense urban areas, one by choice to have the amenities of urban life close at hand without all the negatives, the other because you couldn't afford to leave even though you desperately wanted to.

Today, the radical Left sees suburbs as undermining their political goals. Ownership is a bad thing for them. Owners don't want to be taxed to death to pay for welfare programs. Owners want to be able to do stuff with their homes and land to improve them. Suburbs also don't fit in well with the Left's push for public transit and choo choo trains, particularly light fail systems. Suburbs are car friendly, not bus and trolley friendly.

So, suburbs for the radical Left are an enemy to be destroyed. You must live in an high rise apartment building and use public transit for moving around. That gives government more control and power over your life. It makes you less likely to vote against government handouts as you are getting those versus being taxed to pay for them.

I find it interesting that the Left is completely incapable of defending what they say if it isn't predefined and already packaged as a talking point. There is no original thought or capability to analyze anything that isn't spoon fed to the Left... That's why I enjoy reading radical Leftist publications so much. They are so easy to demolish because they don't use facts, logic, or reason...

The author of this piece is a thirty five year old radical. He is a leftist at or near the end of the spectrum just as there are extreme right wingers at the opposite end. Both groups are threats to democracy. Here's a fair summary:

"Annotation

The violent extremist groups on both the left and the right in the United States have both similarities and significant differences in their ideologies, goals, tactics, membership, recruitment techniques, and involvement in violent criminal activity.

Abstract

The left-wing groups arose during the late 1960's, whereas right-wing groups have been a problem throughout much of the Nation's history. Left-wing groups emphasize class struggle and support for people in the Third World, whereas right-wing groups often believe in-white supremacy, extremes of Christianity and patriotism, and involvement in the survivalist movement. Both extremes are antidemocratic, see their mission as bringing about the revolution, and blame all the Nation's problems on a particular group. Leftists usually have urban backgrounds, are highly educated, and include blacks. Extreme right-wing groups consist entirely of white Christians and are often blue-collar and poorly educated. Both types of groups exploit legitimate political issues to attract members. They both also recruit from the military and prison populations. Their criminal offenses are similar and include bombings, murder of law enforcement officers, and attacks on government installations. Both types of groups pose a danger to the United States and need to be monitored. However, right-wing groups have greater potential for mounting a significant effort because they espouse traditional American values. 3 notes and 22 references."

Spot on, T.A.. It's been going on for years now.

I think it is a positive thing that the left fear the suburbs.......let them cower in their blue cities spending their tax money on illegal aliens and promoting lawless prosecutors........then when they try to leave for somewhere safer we can enforce our border security and refuse them entry into the sane world......

"The anti-trans panic" Isn't it the religious far right that is fomenting this kind of hatred?????

The left has always been afraid of their own shadow. I mean,...just look at them,..THEY SHOULD BE! :| This is why they have always needed and wanted Big Daddy Big Government to take care of them like babies and protect them from the big bad Alpha people that were actually born with a nut sack. Losers....... In prior years These are the kinds of people that would have been left behind on the wagon trail to die because they were too weak to make the journey or too lazy to pull their own weight and the others couldnt have them anchoring them down . Dead weight!

My point was and is that the piece shows the thinking on the radical Left to one extent or another. Maybe someone like AOC isn't quite as invested as this schmuck is, but she does clearly believe that the Right is fascist to one degree or another for whatever reason. So the like thinking is there.

No, the anti-trans panic doesn't exist. This is a kneejerk reaction from the Left in an attempt to stigmatize and discredit those who disagree--to any extent--with the current radical Leftist trans movement. The problem for the radical Left is they can't produce a rational, factual, basis for their positions so they have to discredit those that disagree with them using the only tools they have available, the ad hominem and insults.

Did www.TheNation.com tell you what to think or SPOON-FEED you here? Did they "GROOM" you into believing this bullshit?

All who refuse to conform to WOKE dictates will be crushed....UTOPIA Demands.

Check out downtown real estate prices now.
It appears that noise and smell are back in demand...if one can even afford them.

Hipster small business last a year or 2 if they're lucky. The city is handing out old buildings along with the loans to go with them. No pain no gain. Isn't that what they say? I took the same risks and paid the same price when I was young and eager.

Seattle downtown landlords are as part of a city program giving away their ground level street facing retail to artist types so that the city will appear more healthy than it is.

This is going on everywhere. The banksters end up owning everything. We can't believe Detroit is rebuilding because we heard it on the news. Look at all the 100-year-old viaducts and bridges in Everytown, USA. What percent are made of iron? I like old but this is the 21st century.

These useless motherfuckers have no idea of what is coming....do we agree that far?
