A new poll indicates there is no clear leader of the Republican Party.

Much the same was said about a different party not too long ago. I prefer there not being a clear voice for the R party at this time. Over time we'll get a new group, with a solid message and a different set of priorities. This is just a sign that the party members understand that what they were doing wasn't working and falling back on the previous standard bearers is a mistake.

I think the next presidential election will determine who is leading the republicans. If they examine what they need to do, such as push for the fiscal conservative votes, they can reemerge as a strong party.

Man, what is with that "shrug" thing? It's very strange. Borderline annoying with the constant repetition (possibly the desired effect, but for the love of pete...)

They do?

You mean you can cherry pick 12 bad pictures of ugly/plain looking Democrats and 12 good pictures of pretty pretty/plain Republicans out of 300 million Americans? Wow, that proves something.

Alright, you put Condoleeza Rice on the Republican list and Michelle Obama on the Democrat list. That is bullshit. Michelle Obama is plain, but she is way better looking than Rice, who is a true dog.

I've been around for a few days longer than you Grasshopper, and I don't believe I've ever seen the Democratic Party in as desperate a shape as today's Republican Party. Even during Regan, democrats were never threatened by demographics, never completely leaderless or messageless .. and therein lies the problem. The problem is less that they don't have a leader, but more that they don't have a message they can sell to a wider public. They don't need a tuneup, they need a complete overhaul.

I'm not sure the wisdom is there for an overhaul.

That Democrats have never had it this bad before, but the Republicans have. They've generally been the weaker of the two parties. And hey recovered.

Of course, the Democrats have only ever been "strong" in case you count the Democrats of the ad hoc "conservative coalition" of Republicans and Democrats which so often dominated post-war politics as actual Democrats.

Whatever... It pertains to political ideology, how again?

Well, problem is, most of the actual conservatives in the RW GOP didn't really care for Bush, or to continue Bush policies. It's one of the big reasons for his decline in popularity the last few years. No doubt, the Democrats will continue to hang Bush around the necks of conservatives for years, because that is really all they have. Too bad it won't be that effective at dissuading the RW GOP. As for history, you have no crystal ball, so you don't know what future generations will say about Bush or his policies, that remains to be seen. I happen to think he will be viewed much like Truman, not the greatest president, but certainly not the worst... yeah, I know you don't believe that, it's the effects of the koolaid. But when historians of the future evaluate the Bush Presidency, you'll be drooling in your oatmeal at the old folks home.

You know, Truman took over a decade to have a political rehabilitation. When you go and preemptively declare that Bush is going to have a political rehabilitation, you don't really do yourself any favors. There's like one candidate on the presidential rankings who got there through rehabilitation - Truman. Some presidents are just bad presidents.

No doubt! Besides, some of these so called republcian ladies are dogs. I'd rather skull fuck Threedee on a good day then do a mutt like Ann Coulter on a bad day! Condaleeze Rice hardly has a face that's launched a thousand ships either. Maybe a couple of 72 Ford Pintos but she hardly inspires passion.

Though I must make a confession. My wife looks a lot like Michelle Malkin (who went to college up here in Oberlin) and she's far to the right of Malkin on tax policy.

I think Rice is a much more attractive woman. Michelle has that ape-face and huge ass.

I think the Observation from Catch-22 about Major Major applies to Bush's legacy. Some people are born mediocre, some people rise to mediocrity and others have mediocrity thrust upon them. In Bush's case it was all three though I must admit a certain generosity of spirit in considering Bush mediocre. The truth is he sucked.
