Another day, another peculiar statement from Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN).

When asked by ABC’s This Week host Christiane Amanpour about what her tax plan would be, the congresswoman said that she would implement a flat tax. But while discussing her plan, Bachmann seemed to not understand what exactly a “flat tax” is.

“I would flatten the rates and simplify them, I would not have just one rate, but I’ll have several rates,” she said. “A flatten, simple, much fairer system, and one that would be equitable and raise revenues for the federal government as well.”

But Bachmann is mistaken to consider her plan a “flat tax” if it has more than one rate. As recognized universality, a “flat tax” is taxation of one rate applied to all income with no deductions or exemptions.

Although her presidential campaign hopes are rapidly dwindling, there is some significance to Bachmann’s latest apparent misstatement. Over the course of the campaign and in the debates, the Iowa straw poll winner has touted her experience working in the IRS as having a firm grasp of tax policy.

Nope...while I agree that Biden has his share of whoppers...they could more accurately be described as "crazy talk" not "stupid"...the whole idea that Bachmann wanted more than one "flat tax rate" is just pure, unfiltered stupid.
