A Message For The Religious Right!

I've got one for you....

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

You can't say we have the freedom to worship, but what we fundamentally believe as a part of that worship, can't be expressed in our viewpoints. Religious people have the same exact right to advocate for what they believe in, just like everyone else. To deny them this right, is to deny them the freedom to exercise their religious beliefs.

So, who is trying to limit you, exactly, Dixie? And I what way? People claim this all the time. Now I have seen examples of people trying to silence Muslims and try to stop them from building their mosques. I have seen people try to limit the Westboro church from demonstrating at funerals, but the court said hey have the right. I haven't seen anyone tell people they can't worship or express their views.

Would love to see your examples.

No one is trying to limit me or do anything to me personally. I was commenting on the OP, as I very often do.

People who have religious beliefs, are entitled to base their political ideas on them. That's what "freedom of religion" is all about. It's is absolutely pointless to ensure religious freedom as long as you don't live by the principles. Someone who is opposed to your ideas on a religious basis, have just as much right to express their viewpoint as you do. They also have the right to elect political leaders who share their religious viewpoints. That does NOT establish us as a "theocracy" because YOU also have the same right to elect political leaders who are godless heathens! We ALL have the right to representation in government, regardless of our religious beliefs... ESPECIALLY!

Yes, express them but not make policies that affect non believers, that is the difference.

Well, if they have enough political power, they can make policies, just like you can. Again, you can't say they have 'equal representation', but they just can't pass legislation.
