I reached adulthood in the sixties. We never said to not trust government. We sought to take it over and run it properly.
Libertarians, the polite word for Anarchists, don't believe in government. They believe in freedom from social responsibility.
Democrats are just as distrusting, they just distrust different forces--corporations, military, Republicans, whether they trust government is based on what agency and who is running it.
IT is stupid for anyone to pretend its all or nothing, some government is corrupt, some is not. It does not change the reality of facts and data.
