Thanks. We'll likely loose power but we have a generator. The apt where I live is all electric. I have heavy winter wear and down comforters and blankets, oil lamps etc. I have reading material :0) The house where my son lives has gas/propane cooking and oil heat, he also has a generator....so short of being washed away (not likely) or one of our 60ft trees falling on us we're good to go. We have put in water for flushing and for use. We also have emergency supplies to last quite a while if we had to, I don't expect we'll have to. I have enough hay to last a month.
All we could do we did. The rest is just waiting to see how high the wind is, if the roofs (only a couple of years old) hold up and the trees stay upright.
I appreciate the thoughts.

BTW, we don't know yet how many lives were destroyed yesterday, but we do know that NYU and Bellvue hospitals lost power and lost backup power and the patients had to be evacuated. QUeens is suffering mass fires, a levee has broke in NJ and they are trying to rescue those trapped there, some on their roofs, there are people trapped on southern staten island, 16 dead so far and that will rise...one 39 yo man in Lloyd harbor only a couple of miles from my brother (and I was worried about this because of the trees they have there, but thankfully my brother is fine) hit by a tree in front of his 3 yo and 5 yo and killed as they watched.

I haven't even touched on what is going on really. Over 80% of Long Island lost power. I was so lucky as to be one of the few who did not. I do not understand how people can look at something like this and not feel, just right in their hearts, all of the suffering this is inflicting and feeling that pain. That's too bad. Many of those who lose their homes have no where to go and won't for a while. The privilege of not getting that makes me ill at times like this. Sorry if people think I'm a bitch...but not really. The older I get, the less I care.

Speaking of hate-filled PM's, I got a hate-filled wall post from Darla because I tried to give her a little helpful advice when someone was flaming her. It turns out the moderators did have to have a discussion about whether her responses warranted a ban, after all. It's possible that I helped prevent that from happening by stepping in. Now, I wish I had not, because there was no benefit to me in the matter. However, on occasion, I like to be of assistance to fellow JPP posters, offering advice about military options, moves to the Seattle area, and other such things. Anyway, I assume Darla will never admit I had altruistic intentions, because I am a ball-swinging male who could never possibly be of any assistance to her...
