A little perspective in the budget bullshit.

One thing people tend to forget when talking about our children acquiring the debt is the children also acquire the assets. Using the family analogy a person may buy a home for, say, $250,000. Over the years they pay off $150,000 and die leaving a mortgage of $100,000. One can say the man left his wife and children with a debt of $100,000 OR they can say he left his wife and children assets of $150,000.

The highways and bridges and damns and airports and public parks and Town Halls and subways and everything else different governments have built are going to be there for our children. And, of course, so will a government medical system. :)

The question is what will be the legacy left to our children in regards to Afghanistan and Iraq and Syria and that's where a large portion of the debt is being acquired. What assets will we be leaving our children in exchange for that debt?

Dear gawd you have really been dense lately!

We aren't pissed that they took them, we are pissed that they are given them by the government and want to see a change a real change in our tax code that is fair.

Someone must have really burnt you over this comment, because you keep making it and it is not what anyone of us are saying.

You keep repeating a lie.

any deficit hawk refusing to consider tax increases simply isn't serious about reducing the U.S. national debt.

A quick look back ad I found that sigmankeith posted “Just call what GE does "legalized theft.". Maybe it was just an exception.

And Rana, if you disagree with me how about sticking with posting why and using some facts instead of going the insult route. I have not said "any deficit hawk refusing to consider tax increases simply isn't serious about reducing the U.S. national debt". But I am simply trying to focus on cutting the bloated budget that our politicians have continued to pass. I do not think tax increases are the answer until after we rein in the out-of-control spending.

Now, I thought you and I have been on friendly terms, at least, on this website. But between this ad the "fuck you" of another recent post makes me wonder. We disagree on topics, no biggie. Starting the bullshit name calling is another thing.

From:http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/philg/...esss-solution-to-the-federal-deficit-problem/

"We have a family that is spending $38,200 per year. The family’s income is $21,700 per year. The family adds $16,500 in credit card debt every year in order to pay its bills. After a long and difficult debate among family members, keeping in mind that it was not going to be possible to borrow $16,500 every year forever, the parents and children agreed that a $380/year premium cable subscription could be terminated. So now the family will have to borrow only $16,120 per year."

It's stupid to compare government debt, especially in a recession, to personal debt.
