Anita Hill Really Was Forced to Put Up with These Incredibly Sexist Comments...

A look back at the storm of controversy that surrounded the woman who accused future Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment.

David Brock: In a book trashing Hill’s reputation, the conservative operative famously called her “a little bit nutty and a little bit slutty,” a phrase that speaks for itself. Nearly a decade later, Brock, who went on to found the left-wing watchdog group Media Matters, apologized for the statement in his book, Blinded by the Right, admitting that he published “virtually every derogatory and often contradictory allegation” he could find in order to discredit her, and even coordinated with the Thomas camp in that effort.

Virginia Thomas: The justice’s wife may not have been overtly sexist, but she still apparently loathes Hill’s testimony. The loathing continues to this day: in 2010, nearly two decades after the hearings, Thomas left Hill a voicemail message demanding an apology for her remarks. Hill refused, saying she had “no intention of apologizing because I testified truthfully about my experience and I stand by that testimony.” (Later, Virginia admitted that the call was “probably a mistake.”)

Alan K. Simpson: In a memorable moment during the hearing, the Republican senator from Wyoming was confounded when Hill revealed that she continued to talk to Thomas long after she left the E.E.O.C. “But let me tell you, if what you say this man said to you occurred, why in God’s name, when he left his position of power or status or authority over you—and you left it in 1983—why in God’s name would you ever speak to a man like that the rest of your life?” he asked. Despite Hill’s attempts to explain that she was worried about her professional career, Simpson still could not believe her.

Many other people: Foreshadowing the travails of modern-day women on the Internet, Hill had to deal with strangers telling her that she was wrong. As she said in a press conference:

I had a call from a male who identified himself by name, and also identified himself as associated with a national organization, a civil rights organization, and he said to me that Clarence Thomas was only acting the way any man would act with a woman . . . I have received other harassing phone calls, mostly they’re messages on my machine where males have made jokes about this, and then that one unfortunate call where an individual was very forceful that this was only normal male behavior, which I think insults all of you men in the room.

I do not automatically disbelieve -my problem is with those who automatically believe. saying it is or isn't so doesn't make it either condition.
The media says it is so Michelle Obama says it's so.(etc)

Then you are exactly like the Trump defenders of the world. You automatically assume the woman is lying and just trying to bring down a righteous man.

Please, there is nothing righteous about Douchebag Donald. Dems even promised to destroy and to "Bork" Thomas, the instant Bush nominated him.

Not too long ago I read about the Bork nomination and why it failed. Bork was a horrible choice. His beliefs were rigid and prejudicial.

I was talking about Anita Hill when I commented about bringing down a righteous man, and used the term "righteous" sarcastically.

I'm not inclined to believe anything Trump says, he's a serial liar.

compared to Clinton? c'mon.
and what does he lie about? anything of major importance? he's a blowhard -agreed.

Look at Clinton's public statement on her emails....she holds a press conference and everything she said is a lie.
Then she dissempbles about "wiping the server with a cloth" -then she lies about her answer to the FBI.

all the while treating a large slice of Americans as "basket of deplorables" or bucket of losers"

This is pure arrogance, and she gets away with it because the media deflects with shiny objects.

Only in your imagination.....on the other hand, Hillary is both of these...

A sociopath, a sociopath typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way and does so with little concern for others.
lying is focused, it is done to get one’s way). Sociopaths have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others. Sociopaths are often charming and charismatic, but they use their talented social skills in manipulative and self-centered ways

She is also a compulsive liar, ..... defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right.

Her lying is proven, confirmed by the FBI, confirmed by anyone thats heard her answer questions about her email, confirmed by anyone that has listened to her testify before congress....her lies are not alleged, her lying is not question....its undeniable fact.....
Examples in my sig. is proof her lying is not something new....its a character trait of hers for years and years...

You believe allegations against those you don't like with little or no proof and totally ignore absolute facts about those you support.....

Rigid is the US Constitution (or any written constitution, for that matter). Of the two men you referenced, one is actually righteous.
