The Force is With Me
Your knowledge of Congress is about as credible as your knowledge of anything. nil.
What he said was absolutely correct brother and I defy you to come up with a reason why it wouldn't be?
IN FACT, it should have been a hammer held over their heads. Either you help pass a good bill, OR, it will be left to us democrats to pass one .. and guess what we're going to pass?
SP .. the public option .. and Medicare for all Americans .. all in the same bill.
What would have stopped them? It's just democrats .. they could pass whatever they wanted to pass.
What were republicans going to do .. go to the public and complain? .. Wouldn't that be exactly what you want them to do? Rush to the airwaves and proclaim that the democrats are trying to expand one of the most popular programs in American history? One that cuts costs, expands access for all Americans, takes employers out of the equation, focuses on health care as a boom industry that will create millions of jobs that cannot be shipped overseas, deals with the doctor shortage, lowers premiums, and is user-friendly and easily understood.
Had that been Obama's argument, the midterms and today's Congress would look very different .. and Americans would have what they expected him to deliver.
I know Congress .. yes I do.
You ask why I'm bringing this up? I bring it up because I think I know something that you don't good brother. In America, rights are determined by what you can demand .. not by what is just, fair, humane, or what Jesus would do. If you cannot demand it .. it's not your right.
I'm an activist .. and I'm demanding a good health care system. Not for me .. I have one. I'm demanding it for all Americans.
This isn't personal, I like you. I like a lot of democrats here. But democrats have failed to deliver .. and they failed because they didn't have the courage to stand up to a corporatist ploy. Should have been smarter than that.
I keep an open dialogue with republicans because they aren't my enemy either. Corporatism is.
I believe the sooner all of us recognize that the enemy ain't us ... the better off we will be as a nation.
