A demonstration of how easily democrats were played on health care reform

The Force is With Me
All thoughout the healthcare debate and beyond, people were told that republicans would never go along with healthcare reform and would never support a single-payer system. Is that true?

Question: Are republicans hostile to Medicare?

Keep in mind that seniors are their most loyal and reliable constituents.

Are seniors hostile to Medicare?

For consideration ..

They're pushing Ryan's 'Premium Support Plan.'

When the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said this .. "Seniors will have to find $12,500 for health care because Republicans voted to end Medicare."

This is how Politifact judged that statement ..

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...ats-say-republicans-voted-end-medicare-and-c/

It was a blazing lie.

When Howard Dean said this .. "All the really great programs in American history, Social Security, was done without Republicans. Medicare was done without Republican support until the last vote where they realized they had to get on board."

This is how Politifact judged that statement ..

rulings%2Ftom-false.gif

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...laims-social-security-and-medicare-were-pass/

It was false.

Someone told democrats that republicans were automatically hostile to Medicare. That isn't true. As flawed as it may have been, Bush championed Medicare Part B.

Someone told democrats that republicans weren't going to support healthcare reform .. would never support a single-payer system. That isn't true either.

Conservatives and Liberals Agree: Medicare for All Would Be Constitutional

Conservatives and liberals may disagree about the constitutionality of the individual mandate requiring all uninsured Americans to buy health insurance from private companies or pay a penalty to the IRS.

But there is no debate about whether single-payer Medicare For All would be constitutional. No one -- not even the most hard core, right-wing libertarians -- disputes that the federal government has the constitutional authority to tax all Americans to pay for Medicare-style health insurance for all, as it pays for Medicare for everyone over 65.

Indeed the Republican Attorney General of Louisiana, Buddy Caldwell -- who is one of the attorneys general opposing the Affordable Care Act ("ACA") in the Supreme Court -- is against the Individual Mandate because it props up the private health insurance agency and he prefers single payer. "Insurance companies are the absolute worst people to handle this kind of business," Caldwell said last week outside the Supreme Court. "If you have a hurricane come up the east coast, the first one that's going to leave when they gotta pay too many claims is an insurance company." Caldwell went on to endorse the idea of a government backed single-payer system as "a whole lot better" than mandating private insurance.

I've worked with PNHP and CNA .. we've run the numbers, we've had the interviews. Medicare-for-All could have indeed passed.

Infrastructure already in place .. one of the most popular programs in American history .. and a popularity that crosses all party lines.

Lowers costs, addresses the doctor shortage, easily understood, eliminates employers from the equation, and treats the medical field as a boom industry that cannot be shipped overseas.

The ACA is no comparison to Medicare-For-All .. and good leadership could have made it a reality.

Democrats have been played .. easily.

So the argument is that the same GOP that voted (serveral times) to end traditional single-payer Medicare for people 55 and under would have voted to extend traditional single-payer Medicare to everyone becuase everyone agrees that Medicare for all would be constitutional?

Amazing how pinheads believe every piece of crap the left wing liars tells without question....zero thinking for themselves....
And you idiots were told this same stuff more than 2 years ago and the lie still persists in their empty heads....

This is shameful on the part of the Democrats. . . Some small part of me is happy to see them finally fight unfair like the Republicans do, part of me is unhappy with it.

stop showing your ignorance. if you think that both sides have been using any fairness for decades, you're too stupid to be let loose in society.

The argument is that republicans are not automatically hostile to Medicare .. as has been demonstrated .. and it would have been much easier to pass the far superior program of Medicare for all Americans than the ACA.

Obama could have forced republicans to stand against one of the most popular programs in American history, and one that is cherished by their most loyal constituency.

But he never fought for it .. not once. He just took it off the table and claimed that he was forced to.

He wasn't.

It is extraordinarily unlikely that the same GOP that has voted, several times, for people under age 55 to not get traditional single-payer Medicare when the reach Medicare eligibility would have voted for everyone to get traditional single-payer Medicare regardless of age.

Question: Let's say that you're right .. you're not .. but let's say that you are. If it was singularly left to democrats to pass a bill .. why not pass a bill that the vast majority of democrats, politicians and constituents .. really wanted?

Republicans were no longer standing in the way of a democratic only bill. So why not pass single-payer / the public option?

BAC...why are you dredging up shit from two years ago? I mean, that's a Bravo thing...

Look we know you hate Obamacare. There's five million posts on here that prove it. Give it a fucking rest, mkay?

It's the law of the fucking land and it's not going anywhere until it's replaced with single payor.

Question: What makes you think that you get to tell me what to post?

Have I ever questioned why you post what you do?

Were there republicans that thought you posted too much about Bush?

Are you saying Politifact is not correct on its findings that the Democrats LIED, MISLED and MIS-CHARACTERIZED the Republican position on Medicare ?......

Are you just a narrow-minded hack ?

This from you, one of the assholes that brings up Bush from 12,13 years ago at every opportunity.....what a hypocrite...

While we're on Politifact, here's all their recent Pants on Fire rulings. You'll see the Republican Party with far more...about 90% compared with Democrats.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/rulings/pants-fire/

Of course, now Politifact is a left wing shill, right?

So now its the old and tired, "they do it too defense".....or "they do more than we do defense"......

Your post it totally irrelevant to the topic BAC posted....so fuck off.....

it would certainly seem logical that since the Democrats did in fact pass a bill that no Republican wanted, then they ought to have been able to pass anything that Democrats wanted.......if what is suggested did not pass, one can only conclude that the Democrats did not truly want it.......
