A Confederate statue is coming down today

Again, although I have mixed feelings on subject, I, for one, would be offended if President Trump started flying a neo-Nazi/QAnon flag atop the White House to commemorate the Unite the Right protesters in Charlottesville. His choice, but I would vote to have it removed. How would you vote in such a circumstance?

So a person feels a statue is racist so it must be removed?How does a statue have the power to make people feel something? As you said its nothing more than the sum of its components so it has no power.

I wouldn't be offended I would disagree because the white house represents America not trump and the flag of America is the stars and stripes. If you want something else then do whats necessary to make it official. Until then only the American flag represents America.

Dude, get a grip. Did you understand my phrase "the object represents racism" in the quoted post? When you start with a false premise, don't be surprised when you end up in the weeds.

Exactly: "do what's necessary to make it official". Are you denying that's what happened in Charlottesville? Are you denying funding was approved to move the statue to Shenandoah?

As for the statue that was erected in 1909 in front of the Albemarle County courthouse, the citizens of Albemarle County voted last August to move it to Shenandoah battlefield. That is their choice. They did it exactly as you said it should be done "to make it official". Why are you whining about it?

I sometimes remove a thanks after I look the post over again and realize there is something I cannot support, often simply being mean and nasty to another poster. And no, 'they did it first' is not a justification in my book. Two wrongs don't make a right. Hatred will never eliminate hatred. Only love can eliminate hatred. Lotta people have forgotten how to appreciate their fellow Americans. We gotta rekindle unity. It's OK to disagree. Our country counts on that. It is not OK to hate.

If a statue honors an enemy regime, like the CSA, Nazi Germany, or Soviet Russia, it should be removed.

Sorry for being unclear; I'm saying there are more RW nutjobs on this forum than LW nutjobs but the difference may be the massive number of RWNJs with sock puppets. Just the sock puppets of Teflon Don and IBDa alone would account for the difference, but I do not have the information to verify the count.

Do you really believe "overkill" is newbie or is he a sock? How do you tell?
