A Confederate statue is coming down today

What they are saying is that the object represents racism. Obviously inanimate objects are incapable of being anything more than the sum of their components.

Again, although I have mixed feelings on subject, I, for one, would be offended if President Trump started flying a neo-Nazi/QAnon flag atop the White House to commemorate the Unite the Right protesters in Charlottesville. His choice, but I would vote to have it removed. How would you vote in such a circumstance?

So a person feels a statue is racist so it must be removed? How does a statue have the power to make people feel something? As you said its nothing more than the sum of its components so it has no power.

I wouldn't be offended I would disagree because the white house represents America not trump and the flag of America is the stars and stripes. If you want something else then do whats necessary to make it official. Until then only the American flag represents America.

Dude, get a grip. Did you understand my phrase "the object represents racism" in the quoted post? When you start with a false premise, don't be surprised when you end up in the weeds.

Exactly: "do what's necessary to make it official". Are you denying that's what happened in Charlottesville? Are you denying funding was approved to move the statue to Shenandoah?

I understand too well dude so you get a grip. It can only represent racism if people feel it or think it. An ism is merely an idea. Ideas only offend if we allow it.

I was referencing the flag question you posed. You NEED more coffee.

So Trump flying a Neo-Nazi would mean nothing, only what you or I think it means? Do you even understand what you are saying?

As for the statue that was erected in 1909 in front of the Albemarle County courthouse, the citizens of Albemarle County voted last August to move it to Shenandoah battlefield. That is their choice. They did it exactly as you said it should be done "to make it official". Why are you whining about it?

Hello Dutch Uncle,

I agreed with most of his post except that part...which I suspect he is intimately familiar with during his upbringing.

The downside of thanks and groans. Is giving either one 100% agreement/disagreement? 51% or just one sentence? Maybe just the courtesy of a rational reply, epithets aside? I think all apply.

I sometimes remove a thanks after I look the post over again and realize there is something I cannot support, often simply being mean and nasty to another poster. And no, 'they did it first' is not a justification in my book. Two wrongs don't make a right. Hatred will never eliminate hatred. Only love can eliminate hatred. Lotta people have forgotten how to appreciate their fellow Americans. We gotta rekindle unity. It's OK to disagree. Our country counts on that. It is not OK to hate.

You didn't understand a word I fucking wrote about the flag did you? What a fucking waste of time.

Im,not whining asshole you need to learn to read.

My general philosophy is to post a response unless I agreed 100% with the post.

Angry retorts completely lacking in factual content just make you look needy and weak.

The fact remains the citizens of Albemarle County voted on an action then carried it out. You anti-American assholes can suck their asses. LOL

He's certainly a very distressed person. Such people have often been bullied and abused in life so one outlet for them is to bully and abuse others. It's a standard cycle of bullies and victims. There could be other reasons why a person hates a group of people so much regardless if it's political, religious, national, racial or anything else, but it takes a lot of emotional effort to fuel hate. IMO, the primary emotion that would do so is emotional pain.

One of the most complicated types of bullying to address is that of bully-victims. Bully-victims represent kids who are both bullies and victims. They bully others because they too have been bullied.

Because bully-victims face a complicated set of consequences, it is essential that parents and others recognize the challenges they face and design interventions to match their needs. For instance, these kids may benefit from programs that focus on cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and emotions management.

Helpful Vs Harmful: Ways To Manage Emotions
....Bullying is when a person uses force, threats, or ridicule to show power over others. People typically take part in bullying behavior because they don’t feel good about themselves and making someone else feel bad makes them feel better about themselves or feel less alone. It is harmful to both the bully and the person being bullied and does not address underlying issues.

Hmm, So racists can't be calm, calculated & factual says who?

If a statue honors an enemy regime, like the CSA, Nazi Germany, or Soviet Russia, it should be removed.

Correct; like Rachel Dolezal, Kap claims to be black even though he was raised a middle class white kid in Wisconsin. Are you agreeing this is primarily cultural and only idiots judge people based on skin tone?

Don't watch the NFL. Easy peasy. Their choice, your choice.

I don't know who "fat Ox" is. I don't know guno's background, but I can see he's rational as you and I. Not like the nutjobs and their multiple sock puppet accounts like Mason, Teflon and IBDa.

If you cared to look, you'd see I've confronted the LWLs on multiple occasions and, like I have with the RWNJs, they've become upset with me. Ask jacksonsprat, Jerome and Katzgar, to name a few. There are, of course, others. Just because there are more RWNJs** on this forum then LWLs doesn't mean I'm favoring one side or the other.

**IMO, it's because of sock puppets. Teflon Don himself has at least five. If I disagree with all five of his nutjob sock puppets and also disagree with Katzgar, does that mean I attack more RWNJs than LWLs? No, it does not.

This is racial, they are making it all about race. Rich "oppressed" blacks protesting the National Anthem, our flag and our country. None of whom know what "oppressed" is.

I quit watching. Many loyal fans have quit watching. Pro sports is about to find out when the stadiums open back up.

Crocodile is Fat Ox. guno is as an irrational, bigoted, racist, white, Christian hating, pathetic hypocrite as they come. He claims to be a machinist. Running a machine someone else sets up for you is not a machinist.

You've counted each on both sides here? I guess if you favor one side, you'd conclude the other is more prevalent...

I thought you preferred rational discourse to personal attacks? You've falsely accused me of having socks. I've never changed my name from Amazon and I think socks are infantile. Do you say the same of your "friends" here? They have socks...

Sorry for being unclear; I'm saying there are more RW nutjobs on this forum than LW nutjobs but the difference may be the massive number of RWNJs with sock puppets. Just the sock puppets of Teflon Don and IBDa alone would account for the difference, but I do not have the information to verify the count.

Do you really believe "overkill" is newbie or is he a sock? How do you tell?
