A complete asshole, or the last war of the Russian Empire

You heard correctly. Zelensky immediately agreed to Putin's proposal to start negotiations on May 15 and will personally fly to Istanbul for one-on-one talks with Putin. But Putin is unlikely to decide to fly to Istanbul personally. And if this happens, then Trump will already know for sure that Putin does not want peace. In that case, Trump will no longer limit arms supplies to Ukraine.

I haven't heard Trump say that Putin needs to go to Istanbul personally, nor should he. As I've said before, it's generally best to leave diplomacy to the diplomats.

This will lead to endless negotiations and will end without results, which is not beneficial for either Ukraine or the West.

You yourself said that Putin going wouldn't change anything:
Zelensky's meeting with Putin will of course yield nothing.

Would you agree that anyone going anywhere in this will do no good if the sides are making demands that can't be reconciled? As I've said before, I think it's in Ukraine's interests to take the terms that Russia is willing to offer right now. Not doing so will only increase the death toll.

What Russia proposes is unacceptable for the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian president will not agree to give a third of the country to the invader. Moreover, Putin will not stop in case of success, this is clear to everyone. He has big plans, occupation threatens other former Russian countries as well.

It appears you're right, at least for western Ukrainians. As to the eastern Ukrainians who are actually under Russian control at this point, most decided to join Russia. This is the thing that so few people understand. Ever since 2014, there's been a shard divide between western and eastern Ukraine. Western Ukraine may have a hard time accepting this fact, but fact it is. The sooner they come to terms with it, the sooner this war can end.

I've seen no evidence of these alleged "big plans".
