I’m not trying to fight you here. I responded to your post in a thread about reparations in which you stated voter turnout is key and referenced the 2016 turnout. Higher turnout in ‘16 wasn’t necessarily going to get the list of reparations being demanded. Voting is obviously important but unless you are voting for folks running on this reparations platform not a lot is going to change regarding the issues of reparations.
I am not sure how I missed your original point, but yes Reparations would pretty much have to be up on referendum, for people to be able to vote in favor of it- or not.
Let me just say this right up front, I really do not have a hard stand on this one way or the other.
But if forced to make a fast and unwanted choice right now, in this time when I believe we have 1,000 other things we should me more concerned with and focused on, I would probably, in a forced and rush decision to say- thumbs down. And I'll tell you why.
Before I do or don't do anything, or make a choice between two choices, I ask myself a couple of questions...
Can we afford to do it, and can we afford not to do it? And in this case, right off the top of my head I do not believe we could afford such a large pay-out of everyone's tax money, and if we don't do it, I don't see that as something that is going to cause any harm in any way to anyone either.
That is just my feelings about it, and if my measly little opinion hurts anyone's feelings, I'll apologize for it in advance. SORRY!
You just shouldn't have even brought this up at a time when I have 1,000 other priorities.
