Please take the 8 minutes to view this and post your impressions! (I watched it last night. I was going to put it up night but didn't see it till this AM)

I was dug into something else last night and Maddow was on in the background. But this caught my attention immediately when she wondered out loud why Trump said Russia had to invade Afghanistan. That one threw me for a loop a couple of days ago as well. I looked up IMMEDIATELY. Apparently that pronouncement had an effect on her and had the same effect on the ex-ambassador to Russia she had called in as an expert on Russian policies. Policies that she could NOT find anywhere else. Policies that only Russia seems to posture, know about and embrace. The ambassador was left sputtering a bit. Rachel herself was sputtering a bit. I realized I had been shaking my head in disbelief and I have no idea how long.

Poland, Montenegro, Afghanistan??

PS THIS IS THE SAME RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TRUMP SAID PUTIN WANTED THE OPPORTUNITY TO 'INTERVIEW' AND TRUMP THOUGHT WAS A GOOD IDEA and said so out loud. IT SENT SHOCKWAVES THROUGH THE STATE AND FOREIGN SERVICE RANKS. It was NEVER mentioned again.

Too bad. This is your country as well. I guess the ex RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR buys into 'weird Maddow stuff' too.

PS THIS IS THE SAME RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR TRUMP SAID HE THOUGHT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO LET PUTIN HAVE TO "INTERROGATE".
He repeats Russian propaganda, this guy is suppose the leader of the USA and he’s passing on Russian lies. The evidence just keeps piling up. Has he said anything about the hostage Putin has taken? He’s tweeting all kinds of craziness lately.

Its Friday, Mueller Time?

It was bizarre. I remember VAGUELY hearing the Montenegro stuff but I sure as hell didn't know about the Poland 'fraud'.

if you can't enunciate what it is...The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on:

Here, since your life is too valuable to waste learning something, is the short Reader's Digest version:

""Russia used to be the Soviet Union. Afghanistan made it Russia because they went bankrupt fighting in Afghanistan," Trump said during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday. "The reason Russia was in Afghanistan was because terrorists were going into Russia. They were right to be there."

"The former Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979 to prop up Afghanistan's then- communist government, which was battling anticommunist guerrillas. The U.S. condemned the Soviet move and eventually helped the mujahideen rebel forces. Under then-President Ronald Reagan, the U.S. provided the mujahideen with anti-aircraft missiles, among other assistance. "

so he got Afghan history wrong? that's the big deal?
Trump gets everything wrong -his statements are one big malaprop -so what? he gets the POLICIES RIGHT

Do you want out of Syria? I sure do -unlike Mattis and the MSNBC "security experts" who want us bogged down
in "sand and death"

Afghanistan has to end sometimes.. I personally am fine with 10k there killing terrorists,
but I also get the idea of letting the regional players do it.

Thanks for the info!

I think you're saying Trump gets the policies right because you agree with them - so far. But how can you be confident he will devise good policies when they come out of the same pig-ignorant head as that crap about Afghanistan and dozens more like it?

Face it, he doesn't have the knowledge base to make rational decisions. And even if he did, he doesn't have the brains or the critical faculty.

So we ask, who does he have to advise him? Pompeo and Bolton if he pays any attention to them. Oh well, can't go wrong then.

he's been getting ALL the policies right -including the wall as an effective barrier.

He's gotten the economy booming, while taking on China - in terms of foreign policy he's said we are getting out of Syria over a 4 month period. AfPak is coming to some sort of end of nationbuilding.

He got the history wrong, he butchers the English langue, but he's gotten us a roaring economy
and no Libya/Iraq -or permanent deployment.

I do NOT agree with Russian sanctions- but i'm a lone voice on that

Yeah, I saw 2 of those videos in real time. And saw him say we should turn over an AMERICAN AMBASSADOR to Putin.

And IF they had the right to invade why did we back the mujahideen who was fighting against the Soviets? Were we yet again backing the wrong horse? Didn't a couple of million civilians die? Wasn't there a refugee crisis on it's border? DIDN'T THE MUJAHIDEEN GIVE RISE TO BIN LADEN?

(Another Readers Digest version of events but I think I've got the basics right).

ROARING ECONOMY, for whom? And $2 TRILLION in new debt.

There is a relatively innocent explanation for this which is at least possible. Obviously much of what passes for Trump's thinking comes from RW trash sites, and some of them peddle Russian propaganda. He could have picked up on that without even realizing what it was. Once it was fixed in his head, there would be no dislodging it.

More broadly, I don't doubt that he would collaborate with a hostile power if he saw any advantage in it for him (is there any other president you could have said that about?), but I don't know if he did. We may never know for sure.
