84% of new cars in Norway are electric

Because Norway forces people to buy electric cars. It is not effort. It is compliance with an oligarchy. It is tyranny.

I would like to buy an electric car, when they have a range of 400 miles and a ten minute charging time?!! There is one other thing, what if you are an apartment dweller, where do you charge you car while at home?!! I hope to end my driving days in an electric vehicle?!!

Until Norway implemented the incentives below, nobody was buying the damn things. The government had to come in and put massive bribes--err, incentives-- in place to get buyers.

The Norwegian EV incentives:
No purchase/import taxes (1990-)
Exemption from 25% VAT on purchase (2001-)
No annual road tax (1996-2021). Reduced tax from 2021. Full tax from 2022..
No charges on toll roads or ferries (1997- 2017).
Maximum 50% of the total amount on ferry fares for electric vehicles (2018-)
Maximum 50% of the total amount on toll roads (2019)
Free municipal parking (1999- 2017)
Parking fee for EVs was introduced locally with an upper limit of a maximum 50% of the full price (2018-)
Access to bus lanes (2005-). New rules allow local authorities to limit the access to only include EVs that carry one or more passengers (2016)
50 % reduced company car tax (2000-2018). Company car tax reduction reduced to 40% (2018-) and 20 percent from 2022.
Exemption from 25% VAT on leasing (2015)
Fiscal compensation for the scrapping of fossil vans when converting to a zero-emission van (2018)

DS, Code 17C states that a motorized wheelchair is not classified as a vehicle or motor vehicle. “Vehicle” means every device in, upon, or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, except devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks or wheelchairs. Norway gets a whopping 3% of their electricity from fossil fuels, with almost all of that coming from natural gas. That is about as little as they could conceivably get, and still sometimes run backup generators.

Norways gets almost all their electricity from hydro-power. It is 93% of their electricity. They get 4% from other renewables.
