Taiwan is NOT part of NATO or even the UN. Unless either willing to officially commit troops to defend Taiwan's independence from China, Biden & Pelosi and the Chinese are just saber rattling (also given that CHINA still has us by the economic short hairs).

You are correct. There is no official treaty with Taiwan. There are vague promises, which trump has called into question. Now Biden must push the situation a bit, to keep China back. He has done a bit of saber rattling, but very little considering. It is the type of extremely balanced, thought out strategy we have come to expect from Biden.

Carter did cut off wheat exports to the USSR after the Afghanistan invasion (the USSR's not ours decades later).

I am finding the whole thing with life is kicking the can down the road. You put off disaster for a while, and that is success. It works like that in both individual lives, and international relations.
