8 People Who Were Executed and Later Found Innocent

Innocent People are on Death Row and May Have Been Executed. At least 138
people have been exonerated from death row since 1973, ... any evidence found
after 21 days was inadmissible in proving the innocence of a convicted person. ...

Innocence

Think about how many were executed, that were innocent we don't know about?

But Rick Perry isn't worried about it, and the GOP audience applauds.

Then think about the 9 or 10 that were found innocent that went on to kill 10 more each before they died of old age.....

this information is on innocence project as well. i've read this before and it is important to clarify that your thread title is inaccurate. while an important topic, you need to be very accurate here, just as you demand accurate convictions.

not all these people were proven or found innocent. in some cases it is was only considered likely.

We don't punish anyone we think is innocent, fool....

The point is....we have a system in place for over 200 years, it ain't perfect because NOTHING in this life is perfect but it is better today than its ever been in the past....
it has served us well.....juries hear evidence and decide to best of their ability what is just......thats the best we can do and its the best we will ever do to protect the public from those that would kill you, your daughter, your son, your mother, etc.... for a dime or for fun or for nothing in particular.

If someone is imprisoned and later proven innocent they can be released.

If someone is executed and later proven innocent...

did i say we punishment people we think are innocent? no, looks like you're the fool.

i don't care how long it has been in place, if it is not a good system, then it needs to change. why do you think the founders founded a new country? maybe they should have just capitulated to the british because that system had been in place far longer than 200 years.

i am solely speaking to the death penalty. because once you're dead, thats it. no more appeals, and even if you are exonerated, i would posit it doesn't matter.

The solution is simple. Replace the death penalty with life in prison. Keep "Death Row" for those prisoners. The chances of them killing anyone else is pretty slim considering the number of successful escapes from Death Row.

Apparently Blabo thinks 'Minority Report' was a documentary starring Tom Cruise

Poor Blabo.

For many right wingers, it revolves around the saving of money and very little to do with justice.

It must suck to be poor then. You would think all of those Millionaire Liberals would contribute to the poor bastards defense.

A lot of wealthy people do support Amnesty International and the Innocence Project, which defend the people whose deaths you hope for.

The State of Texas just announced that they will provide no more last meals by request to condemned prisoners.

Just think how much they're saving!

I don't think so. Executions are not cheap after 25 years of appeals. These people seem to actualy believe that the death penalty is useful as a deterrent.

I think they enjoy a thrill based on their hate-filled revenge fantasies.

If the death-lovers had their way, all the innocent people whose names were cleared would've been executed prior to their exoneration.

Here are some facts about wrongful convictions.*
