In any health care proposal, how important do you feel it is to give people a choice of both a public plan administered by the federal government and a private plan for their health insurance--extremely important, quite important, not that important, or not at all important?

Now I am going to tell you more about the health care plan that President Obama supports and please tell me whether you would favor or oppose it. The plan requires that health insurance companies cover people with pre-existing medical conditions. It also requires all but the smallest employers to provide health coverage for their employees, or pay a percentage of their payroll to help fund coverage for the uninsured. Families and individuals with lower- and middle-incomes would receive tax credits to help them afford insurance coverage. Some of the funding for this plan would come from raising taxes on wealthier Americans. Do you favor or oppose this plan?

/yawn....another stacked deck poll.....why do you waste your time?.....

I suggest a poll....President Obama has proposed a plan. It will result in fluffy bunnies and free candy. Nothing bad will happen to anyone ever again. Do you support this plan?.......

Your survey is OLD...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/20/AR2009082004305_pf.html

Only 52% support the public option now and that number just keeps falling.

Last one that I saw showed the public option at 43% with 47% against it. And that was the one that they tried to show had 53% supporting Obamacare...

The only question with 53% approval (the one that they cherry-picked to pretend that everything was like that) was whether people think it would be good to force insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions.

You really need to click links before making statements like this. The poll was released yesterday. The Washington Post poll has different wording which is kind of the point of the Survey USA poll. When you include the word "choice" when referring to the public plan you get dramatically different results.

Survey USA asks:

In any health care proposal, how important do you feel it is to give people a choice of both a public plan administered by the federal government and a private plan for their health insurance--extremely important, quite important, not that important, or not at all important?

77% of respondents said it is extremely or quite important whereas 22% said it was not that important or not at all important.

The Washington Post-ABC Poll asks:

Would you support or oppose having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans? Do you feel that way strongly or somewhat?

This question that does not mention "choice" gets dramatically different results with 52% in favor and 46% opposed.

It just goes to show you that issue polling is difficult to do because minor differences in question wording can produce very different results.

how cute...ib1 disses polls he doesn't agree with or that don't share his preconcieved views of the world but gladly accepts with great authority those polls that share his view....

Why should we even debate this trash? They are not on our level. They are not rational human beings. They don't deserve the respect that comes from being treated to a debate with us.
