MUCH love and respect for you good brother .. but even the most casual look at America's prison industrial complex is a slap in the face to your bolded comment.
The racism of that system is far worse than it was in the 60's, and the undeniable truth of that is reflected in the statistics. Blacks are more targeted now by the system than we were the day a cop threw me on the floor of his patrol car and put his boot on my head. I was 14 years old, guilty of walking home from school while black.
Prison labor is slave labor, and prisons have become the new plantation where many of America's top corporation make profitable use of America's new slaves. and, oh looky .. America's new slaves look a lot like the old ones.
With all due respect and appreciation for what has been accomplished, the only demographic in this country that can change the course of an overtly racist and criminal INjustice system are white people. When is that going to happen?
