Remember apartheid? A small number of powerful people run America and they are not going to give that up. There are so many ways to cheat in elections and the Repubs are inventing more. The minorities can have the numbers some day, but they are not a unified block. Propaganda works. Many minorities already vote against their own interests as Trump's election proves. Throw in Bloomberg and the wealthy have both parties covered.

I don't think it's going to be that bad as far as racial tensions go. What we'll likely see is Latino becoming the new white. Latin America already has its equivalent concept of white, along with associated racial issues towards those of black descent and sometimes indigenous descent.
Since Latinos are the fastest growing minority, they'll probably become the majority eventually.
The main thing I'm worried about are the associated cultural issues in Latino culture. Most Latino societies have significant issues with corruption that go beyond issues of government structure. Most Latino cultures have a concept of trust that only exists within the family. Those outside of the family are generally distrusted. It's similar to how Italian culture often functions. Cronyism is more rampant in cultures that have this trust paradigm.

There is that, although that doesn't explain the exceptional hostility that native black South Africans have towards other black Africans.
There are economic reasons for some of the hostility, although there are plenty of other African nations with similar economic/unemployment issues to South Africa that do not treat immigrants in the same manner. I would argue that some of the native tribes of South Africa have more violent cultural tendencies -- like the Zulu.
