Rassmussen Poll

Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of 10 key issues, including the top issue of the economy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.

This is the first time in over two years of polling that the GOP has held the advantage on this issue. The parties were close in May, with the Democrats holding a modest 44% to 43% edge. The latest survey was taken just after General Motors announced it was going into bankruptcy as part of a deal brokered by the Obama administration that gives the government majority ownership of the failing automaker.

Voters not affiliated with either party now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues by a two-to-one margin.

Further proof that the general populace have a very short memory and are mostly stupit.

Further proof that they suffered a temporary insanity and elected a tax and spend democrat majority in the midst of an economic storm and have now come to their senses.

Doubtful. Most Americans still support the stimulus.

I have to say, there are actually some areas of American politics where I think it's possible McCain could have been better, but he would have been an absolute disaster for the economy. The idea that the economy could have been brought back from the brink earlier this year with less spending is insane...

they still support it because they think they are going to benefit directly from it. As time goes on, they are going to see that it isn't going to happen and will stop supporting 'stimulus', because it just isn't stimulus.

i don't believe that is true...

and the economy started to turn around before most of obama's spending started... desh was on here bragging about it, until it was showed to her that it was actually bush's stimulus spending

What a tragic post this is, on a few levels.

Check the polls; it doesn't matter what you believe.

As for the economy, you seem to be against spending or stimulus, but IF the economy does recover this year...it's because of Bush's spending, and not Obama's?

That's some truly special hackery there.

"most American's still support the stimiulus". No they don't. In fact most people believe it will be wasted. Most of Obama's spending had to do with growing government which is NEVER good for economic growth in the midst of economic downturns. McCain would have been much better than Obama on the economy.

Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans say the rest of the new government spending in the stimulus plan should be stopped right away, but 36% disagree. Seventy-six percent (76%) say it is at least somewhat likely that a large amount of money in the stimulus plan will be wasted due to inadequate government oversight.

Thgis polls prove that the majority of the country trusts the rebutlickens less than the demoncrats.
Something to brag about? Talk about desperation.

Isn't this a smiliar majority that Obama won with?

all depends on the taxes. the dem party is floating around VAT tax for health care, Tax on Cow farts, more taxes on convenience products. If our standard of living goes down because of inflation or more taxes from a federal level over the next couple years obama will be a one termer because whom ever is running on the R ticket will just run on massive tax cut platform. This isnt rocket science.

i did, and the polls show you're wrong...

i NEVER said it would be because of bush's spending...more dishonest meadowmuffins from you...i specifically mentioned which things DESH said was responsible for the economy picking up were bush's and not obama's

the economy, as i have always said, is far larger than any one president :pke:
