40,000 children in U.S. have lost at least one parent to COVID

Hello Darth,

Trump shirked his duty, tried to downplay the crisis.

Do ya really think it has been 'pretty much shut down,' with over a half million dead Americans and counting? With the number of Active Cases 3X the level of last summer and leveling off because too many States are pretending it is OK to open up again?

In reality, it's looking a whole lot like the hoax that kills:

January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”
February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.”
February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”
February 28: “Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus, you know that, right? Coronavirus, they’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ They go, ‘Oh, not good, not good.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa.” “They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything. They tried it over and over. They’d been doing it since you got in. It’s all turning. They lost. It’s all turning. Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax.”
February 29 “So far, we have lost nobody to corona virus in the United States.”
March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”
March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
March 5: “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
March 6: “I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
March 6: “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
March 6: “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6: “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”

And the virus was paying attention lol?

Fauci said Trump did everything that was asked of him so if you have a problem with the death count look to Fauci. Though I suggest starting with the CCP because without them—we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

And the blaming accomplishes what? Helps us, how?

Hello Darth,

And the blaming accomplishes what? Helps us, how?

Blame goes to where blame belongs—the CCP. All they had to do was not lie about human to human transmission. Instead of covering it up, they could have shut down their own immigration out of the country and this would given other nations a chance to isolate carriers when infections were literally in single digits. THAT was our only window of opportunity.

But that was never going to happen because communists are inveterate liars: It’s who they are.

Once we missed that, it was game-on as far as the virus was concerned. No President was going to do anything more than whittle away at the eventual total until we started toward herd immunity, either by nature, or through vaccines; or some combination thereof.

Biden came on board when the vaccines were already in place.

Just for starters, we didn't need a "debate" about masks. Scientific consensus is now that we could have saved thousands of lives w/ that alone - possibly hundreds of thousands.

No excuse there. Trump should have been behind masks & distancing 100% from the start, and encouraged those things daily. Instead, he & Fox & all of the minions made it some sort of "oppression" thing, and there was actually mask-shaming.

History won't be kind to that.

As for Biden, what he has done in terms of changing the paradigm on the vaccine timetable is absolutely astounding. It would have taken 7-8 years to get to herd immunity w/ the pace of vaccinations under Trump. Now, they're saying we could get there by summer.

‘A’ for effort on making Biden the hero lol.

We’ve been through this: Trump [and by ‘Trump’ we mean a whole cast of characters—including the whole medical bureaucracy and the governors] started from Ground Zero in not even having vaccines; and again, starting up distribution from ground zero once the vaccines came on board.

So obviously, things will go smoother and faster as time goes on. Biden outright lied, in saying no distribution plan existed and even Fauci had to step in on that—well, because that reflected poorly on Fauci.

Again, when you say ‘Trump’ was slow on delivery you’re really referring to a large apparatus that had to overcome a fairly large moment of inertia. If you thought it would go 0-60 in seconds flat, you didn’t have realistic expectations. Or you’re not familiar big government inefficiency.

So basically, you’re crediting Biden with something any competent administration would have done—improved the delivery of the vaccines. And/or not mucking it up. And I’ll give credit to Biden for doing what any competent administration would have done. With the exception of some overly woke governors who are determined to put ‘victims of white oppression’ at the front of the line, the vaccines are rolling, for the most part.

Kudos to everyone involved.

If we can be objective about it [for thirty seconds] we might even credit both administrations for showing us the light at the end of the tunnel.

We HAVE been through this, and the history is actually pretty clear. Trump is actually the one who did what any admin would do - ease the regulations and hurdles for accelerating the development of a vaccine. That was a no brainer.

He's trying to take credit for how quickly the scientific community ran from there - but that was ALL scientists and healthcare professionals. Trump did nothing to make that happen.

And he was floundering when the vaccine was actually ready to go. He did his usual: finger-pointing, blaming, saying that it wasn't his or the federal gov't's responsibility - that it was all up to the states and governors.

He didn't do anything from the time the vaccines were approved until he left office. He was 100% focused on what is now known as the "Big Lie." 100%.

Biden took office, and the next day passed 5 executive orders that greatly accelerated the distribution and pace of vaccinations. The proof is in the results. Within ONE WEEK of his inauguration, we went from a million a week to a million a day. We just passed 4 million in a day recently.

The difference there is between a leader who took COVID seriously, and one who didn't.

There is no Democrat that would have had the common sense or balls to do that. It would have been study after study and Czars and yada, yada, yada. And massive bills that did not address any of it.

A Democrat would have actually done it sooner. Trump was hung up on "15 down to zero" and "it will just disappear miraculously" for too long.

Your characterization is a cliche for what the right thinks about Democrats - but when it comes to utilizing the federal gov't for getting to a result, there is no comparison between the parties.

Bullshit. They did not even want Trump to stop flights to the U.S. from China. You lie like a typical democrat.

We're both just speculating. Neither statement can be a "lie."

I'm not a Democrat. But a pandemic would have been much better handled by one.

As already stated on the thread - we are now around 4 million vaccinations a day, and projected for herd immunity by summer.

So, we'll have to disagree on your statement above.

Which would have never taken place without Trump having set it all up. We can disagree on that fact though.

OK, so the blaming at this point accomplishes nothing to help the situation, but we know it encourages stupid unstable people to commit violence against unsuspecting Asian Americans. Therefore, the blaming should be stopped.

It is possible to limit the spread of the virus, depending upon our actions:

Once the virus has gotten loose there is much which can be done to avoid transmission. Since it is transmitted as an airborne virus, it is known that individuals should avoid sharing air with others. Mask-wearing and keeping distance are the best methods. Also avoiding touching other humans, or touching something another individual has touched, so frequent hand-washing is in order.

Humans who avoid sharing air with others, or otherwise transmitting the virus, help limit the spread until vaccination can be widespread enough to prevent further transmission. These actions save lives, so they are very important.

"Could" being the operative word. Some heartless Republicans are doing everything they can to actually help the virus last longer and kill more people, in order to make Biden look bad. It's despicable.

At least one Republican governor has forbade the requirement of proving individuals are vaccinated to take part in activities such as going into a business which require individuals to be in close proximity with others.

Shouldn’t we at least maybe sanction the CCP for their negligence or malevolence? Do something/anything about it? Maybe broach the topic during the meeting we had with them in Alaska?

The CCP is more responsible for the 500k deaths than anyone—and there’s no close second. And we just ignore it?

Does it know how to do anything else?

It truly baffles me how potentially a whole generation of the disadvantaged have been shafted even further by Democrats looking for power. I think sooner or later young people are going to stop worrying about lowlifes like George Floyd and instead get angry about how they were sacrificed to keep the over 80s alive.

It's too late now. That would have been up to the Trump administration. Sorry that was a let down. I'm sure many Trump supporters are disappointed.

The fact of the matter is that lashing out at China will not help fight the virus.

And they are not more to blame for the 500K+ dead than anyone. I cannot agree to that. Our response made more difference than anything.

Our lax leadership is to blame for our lack of a coordinated unified response.

Anybody who really wanted to reduce the death count was clearly told what to do. And far too many callously ignored it.

The foolishness of all those who totally blew off lifting a finger to help fight the virus is the most to blame for our many deaths.

The irresponsibility of gathering in bars and restaurants even as everyone knew the risk cannot be overstated.

Superspreader events, leaders openly mocking the CDC guidelines are shameful.

The White House became the COVID House.

Holding rallies was openly flaunting the danger. It got Herman Cain killed.

It's tragic how badly Trump and his followers handled the pandemic.
