4 in 10 now say socialism would be good for US: Gallup poll

You basically have raised the white flag of surrender when you start hollering that I 'hate America!"

Isn't that what you and the liberal left are doing now?

I had to pay for your Disastrous Invasion of Iraq, so you have zero room to complain about tax fairness.

I doubt you pay much of anything snowflake. But the Iraq war was a Bi-Partisan endeavor and a UN effort.

In a representative democracy like Norway or the United States, people makes choices and their duly elected representatives vote on how to spend tax revenue.

Yet here you and millions of other low IQ liberals are, claiming that elections don't matter or have consequences. Ironic?

If this country ever chooses to have single payer health care, and subsidized day care you are just going to have to suck it up and keep a stiff upper lip. I am am still paying for your Iraq War and you do not see my crying like a little girl about it.

I doubt you are paying for anything. Welfare is not a Federal Constitutional duty. Defending our interests and our borders are. If you had been properly educated, you could comprehend those FACTS.

If you don't think the Government gets enough revenue, pony up and write a BIGGER check.

Wrapping up: I do appreciate that we have moved the debate away from the preposterous and dishonest teabagger claim that "Democrats want us to be like Cuba!" - and we are now honestly highlight was American liberals and democratic socialists want, aka a socio-economic system similar to the Scandinavian model. Which happens to also be arguably the most admired socioeconomic model in human history.

There is nothing dishonest about it. The Democratic agenda would lead to a Fascistic third world shit hole similar to what we see in China, Cuba and Venezuela. Why do you stupidly believe it would not?

Sadly, yes. A country can't have both a welfare state and mass immigration, but Europe has made the idiotic decision to attempt both.
The good news is many right-wing Nationalist parties in Europe are still pretty left-wing and are making the argument that they need to close the borders so that they can maintain their welfare state.

Yes exactly, you can't have both. That's a a lesson that the Scandinavian countries and Germany is learning the hard way.

Obviously you don’t know there is a difference between secondary education and day care.
I never said anything about not paying school taxes. I was talking about day care.
My recommendation would be for you to go back to secondary school to learn reading comprehension.

My recommendation is for you to quit being so snarky. Be nice.

People can have a policy difference on whether to fund day care, but the principle is the same. So is elementary education.

Be nice. Are you kidding. I hope you tell that to your liberal buddies on this forum.
No the principle is not the same. You are talking about a separate issue.
People who can afford day care do not see government subsidies. You can deduct child care expense on your taxes of course.

More than 4 in 10 respondents in a new Gallup poll now say that socialism would be a good thing for the U.S.

The survey results, released Monday, found that 43 percent of respondents said “some form of socialism” would be a good thing for the nation as a whole.

A little more than half — 51 percent — said that socialism would be a bad thing for the country. And 6 percent said they did not have an opinion.

The results show an increase of 15 points in the number of respondents who said socialism would be a good thing compared to a 1942 Roper/Fortune survey, in which just 25 percent of respondents said socialism would be a good thing and 40 percent said it would be bad.

The results contrast with a Monmouth University poll from earlier this month which found that 57 percent of voters believe that socialism is incompatible with American values.

The Gallup poll, which collected data between April 17-30, comes as more high-profile politicians label themselves socialist. Most notably, self-avowed democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has continued to poll in the top tier of the pool of 2020 Democratic candidates for president, though most of his competitors have distanced themselves from the label.

As the 2020 battle gets underway, Republicans have widely targeted Democrats for allegedly “embracing” socialism.

Gallup also found that Americans are more likely to favor free market over government control on a number of issues, including technological innovation, wealth distribution, the economy, wages, higher education and health care. Respondents favored government control in just two categories: environmental protection and consumers’ online privacy protection.

Respondents were split on their description of the U.S. economy, with 40 percent saying it leans more toward government control, 34 percent saying it leans toward free market control and 25 percent describing it as an equal mix of the two.

The poll of 1,024 adults has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Which is the failure of the education system!

What did my post say to make you think I have liberal buddies. Maybe you need some of that reading comprehension.

Why are tax subsidies ok for elementary and secondary education but not child care? Is it because one is a means tested program? What if a school district or state provided for pre-kindergarten for all students (I think that is primarily child care)--is that the same?

I had to pay for your Disastrous Invasion of Iraq, so you have zero room to complain about tax fairness.

Great job sticking to the subject.
I probably had to pay more in taxes for the Vietnam war, a war started by Kennedy and escalated by Johnson (Jack ass party).
Let’s see that war cost about 48K more lives.

For every waste of taxpayer money by the republicans I can match that with waste by the jack ass party. So if you want to continue your stupidity knock yourself out.

I had nothing to do with Vietnam, being about three years old at the time.

When we invaded Iraq, you were on the sidelines cheering for that war and demanding that those of us who wanted nothing to do with your war use our tax dollars to pay for it.

So if and when our nation votes to have everybody chip in for a single payer health care system, you will have zero standing to cry about it.

On another tangent, this is why teabaggers are so keen to falsely claim that Democrats "want to be like Cuba or like Vladimir Lenin". Because they know what American liberals and democratic socialists actually want is pretty popular, especially with millenials.

The most reputable country in the world is ... Sweden

Sweden, known for its generous social benefits and commitment to gender equality, is considered the most reputable country in the world, according to an annual ranking by Reputation Institute.

Following Sweden this year are Finland, Switzerland, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Japan, Denmark and the Netherlands to round out the top 10 most reputable countries.

Show me a post where you told your liberal buddies to tone it down.

There is a difference between educating kids and babysitting services.
Based on your theory we should provide free higher education at taxpayer expense.

Currently, 53% of Americans pay for the other 47%. What do you think will happen to our economy when more baby boomers start to retire. Hold on it’s going to be a rough ride.

I want to know how you propose to pay for this??
Strong municipal unions and teacher unions have drained a number of the cities funds. Look at Detroit. Essentially services are being cut. There is no revenue. The majority of the people in Detroit are low income who receive assistance.

You can raise taxes on corporations but if the tax rate is too high and they are big enough they will go somewhere where the tax rate is lower. When that happens we loss the jobs and the revenue.

Well president Flash what is your solution.

What liberals and democratic socialist want is a society where they can make decisions on your behalf. They want more of your earnings to spend on social programs that only benefit a minority of the people. They want people to be depended on them. They want people like you that can’t think for themselves or make decisions for themselves.

Canada health care system is controlled by the government. Doctors are reimbursed by the government at a fee for service rate. Canadians have the longest wait times to see a specialist, 56% wait longer than four weeks compared to the international average of 36%.
Do you really believe the government will provide all healthcare for free. You don’t think the government will tell you what is and isn’t going to be covered. You don’t think they will control who you will see to keep costs down. Government will only pay for medically necessary care.
Canada doesn’t pay for drugs or dental.

I hate to make you look stupid again but there is subsidized day care for those that can’t afford it.

What is the exact question asked??

Often times results can changed based on how the question is worded..

Yet those Scandinavian countries that you admire are moving away from the cradle to grave welfare model. There is no way on Earth that the high taxes of Scandinavia would be tolerated in the US, the consensus in Europe is breaking down, due in part to high immigration, and the resultant deliterious effect on the Welfare State and also the postwar consensus is no longer sustainable.

You ever look @ the rates when Ike was President?? We were such a poor ppl, poor country back then.:(

Let me bring you up to speed. I’m not a registered Democrat or Republican. I have no party affiliation.
My decisions are based on common sense and not by a puppet master pulling my strings.
There are issues I side with democrats and issues I side with republicans.

I hear nothing from the left that points us into a dictatorship like Cuba, that’s bullshit.

Idiot statement. Let’s not mention the tax burden of the Vietnam war because I was only three years old.
I had nothing to do with the Vietnam war or the Iraq war either. The stupid politicians started both wars.
Neither war should have been fought.
At least in Iraq we got rid of an evil person. What was the end result in Vietnam other than 50K dead.

I don’t care if we have single payer healthcare. I’m on Medicare dipshit.
For you others good luck. If you don’t think personal income taxes will rise, if you don’t think treatment will be curtailed and if you don’t think you won’t be directed to certain doctors you are stupider than I thought.

Hopefully the jack asses who are campaigning for single payer healthcare tell the truth and let the people know how it will be paid for along with the other freebies.

Same old shit. Repubs hate to help people out and to provide a safety net. There are no socialistic countries and no capitalistic ones either. They are all a mix. We are debating what that mix should be. Repubs, are posting happily about kicking poor people off food stamps are as pleased about slashing the net that saves the poor and downtrodden in any way.
Yet they love to be looted by the top one percent, the people who are really confiscating the wealth for themselves.
As usual, they are looking in the wrong direction.
