damo loves trolls. it is what makes his board different from other political boards. it is also one of the main reasons i like this board. he allows idiots, assholes, racist, trolls....etc to post unless they break the VERY FEW rules he has.

Obviously we need to ban knives. Those knife-nuts will probably be kicking and screaming about not being able to cut their steaks, but knives need to be made illegal. It is the knife loving American society that lets things like this happen.

It's obvous what you're trying to do here, but it's the same thing as those on the other side who go to extremes w/ examples like "should we allow everyone to have nukes?"

America has a clear gun culture; that isn't true about knives, unless you're a chef. I respect the rights of gun owners, though I have never understood the enthusiasm for guns. Still, I can't judge that - it's just not something I get, like someone who doesn't like the cold might not get skiing. When something like the CO shooting happens, it tends to galvanize those outside of the gun culture a bit; it's just not something they're comfortable with in general, even if they support the 2nd amendment.

I don't think that's the sole reason. Guns & gun ownership hold a fairly unique place in U.S. history. Our very inception basically relied upon a well-armed populace.

Personally, I am not a fan of the celebration of guns in the country, and of that culture in general. But I respect their rights.
