Generally, I perceive Kamala Harris as a tragicomic figure. I think her blundering goof-ball stupidity is funny like the "Old School" slapstick movies. Harris and Walz on stage together are a 21st century revival of a "Laurel and Hardy" routine ("

) And whenever I see Walz, W.c. Fields comes to mind ! While the sense of tragedy that is mixed into this comedy comes with the sober realisation that these two incompetent clowns REALLY ARE official contenders for President and Vice President of the United State in a fast-looming federal election. For me, there is a sense of bitterit tragedy in seeing that this is now how low the once-great nation of America-- the mighty leader and defender of the "Free World" - has sunk ..I see the would-be US President cackling like a demented loon and taking whatL is LITERALLY incomprehensible non-sense to the nation. Coupled with her would-be Vice President, a se;f-confessed "knucklehead" who is now running
"amok", screeching, flapping his arms and legs about like a headless chicken at his party's national conference. (The same "knucklehead" who spend a fortune installing tampon dispensers in the boys lavatories of all the schools in Minnesota.).
The point I wish to make is that it was the sense of pity, or better put, compassion that I felt for Kamala Harris on the occasion that I found very sobering. This was because this emotion of compassion I perceive was a personal thing I felt for Kamala Harris the individual. While I do often react to her as a tragicomic figure, the sorrow that is blended with the mirth is felt for the (abstract) notion of America, the nation state. It saddens me to see the greatest ever civilisation in the1000-year history of the West being brought down by a fanatical. "enemy within."
It's true that in the main,Kamala Harris, deserves no sympathy whatsoever and Americans should not feel any pity or compassion for her as she is now being brutally pummelled by the opposition for a seemingly never-ending series of catastrophic fails ( like her 60 minutes interview, her disastrous recent interview with Brett Baier on FOX TV.) After all, when you're running in a campaign to be the President of the US, you are in playing in the Big Time - BIG TIME. You up against a formidable opponent who is obsessed with taking you out. You can't afford to fuck up, if you do the consequence will be brutal and they come hit you hard and fast from every direction. That's how it goes when you're running to become the Leader of the Free World.
AS I say, it surprised me when I experience a feeling of compassion for Kamala Harris on the occasion I mentioned above. IMO, The sense of compassion is is only really genuine when it is experience in respect of another individual person (or animal). The feeling of compassion is a blend of empathy for another's misery or suffering along with a desire to ease or or eliminate their suffering. Even a toughened and hard-hearted farmer cannot abide the sight of someone mercilessly beating an old horse to make it work. The farmer will watch it for a while perhaps, but then he will say to himself this cruelty is now "beyond the pale" and he will intervene to stop the horse being beaten. That is an example of compassion in action.
Even though I'm a devout Trumper and I think Kamala Harris is a dangerous fool who deserves everything thing she gets in the way of being excoriated and crucified (metaphorically speaking) for her lies, her idiot Marxist/Progressive policies, her stupidity and her egregious, political ineptitude, there was only so much punishment I could bear to watch her take before my loathing evaporated and I (briefly) felt pity/compassion. The sense of compassion is pre-cognitive, it is not something that we reason into existence. I believe that with the exception of some people who have serious brain or psychological disorders, the moral emotion of compassion is innate in every human being. Even the most callous, cold-hearted man - provided he is sane - has the capacity to feel compassion; and feel compassion for his most hated enemy. That's what I think, anyway.
