2016 poll?

HRC v. Trump?

  • Total voters
    11
  • Poll closed .
Dying down ? Nope. Getting more serious.

That's odd...

Two weeks ago, when I'd log onto HuffPo or the regular homepage on my computer, there'd be ANOTHER story about how Hillary was in trouble and an indictment was coming ANY DAY NOW.

Today?

Not so much.

You keep on hoping for one though...BENGHAZI!

staying home/not voting is perhaps the stupidest thing anybody could do in a voting situation.

I disagree. Not voting is in and of itself a vote. Unless you are saying that someone should be forced to choose between the establishment choices.

If Trump were to win I think it would be devastating for the right

Dear Celticguy:

...as you did not vote D or R it doesn't change the calculus.

On the other hand, perhaps voting doesn't 'change the calculus,' to use your analogy. Elections don't end legislative malfeasance; they perpetuate it.

Plenty of people don't vote. Youths seem particularly disaffected. Once there are positive calls for a massive, nationwide boycott, the state has few options left but to turn guns on its own people.

Speaking of youth, I'm reminded of another thing. Demographics are really, really powerful.

Yeah, God forbid citizens should tell the GOP they are fed up with it carrying BOS water all the time.

Some threaten to stay home or go 3rd party. Might have stay homes on the left but it's because HRC is so disliked.
There are always a very few 3rd party. Doesn't appear to be any this go round.
I doubt the right will stay home given how despised HRC is.
I think the most significant question is how big a chunk of the mushy middle goes Trump. Been very heavy turnout on the right to date. I'm thinking that has more to do with mushies.

I agree with this and it could wreck havoc with the received wisdom that Trump would need heavy inroads with blacks and Hispanics to win the general. Especially, if there are a significant number of Dems who won't turn out for Hillary.

I get the sense this election isnt going to be subject to the usual rules---it hasn't so far.. There's a lot of unrest in both sides of the electorate and if people who don't typically vote start showing up at the polls it's probably going to go Trump's way.

Whether that's a good thing or bad thing only time will tell. All I know for sure it's been fascinating so far.

This is one theory that might hold water. The other is that Trump's popularity is limited to 30 -40% of the Republican Party and in a general would be even lower.

Well, since every prediction you have made about Trump to date is wrong........

I seriously doubt he could get nominated or elected.

I dont think Trump is going to win, but I did not think he would survive the summer.

I have two conservative family members who say they will stay home if there is not a third choice. I wonder if there is a significant group of Cons who feel this way.

Tell them that Obama got eight years to butt fuck us because of people like that who stayed home. They might as well vote for Hillary if they stay home.

I wont tell them that, I hope they stay home so that HRC can solidify and improve on the gains we have made in the last 8 years.

ON the question of an indictment for HRC, its about as relevant/likely as an indictment for Donald Trump.

But on the question of if I would still vote for the Democratic nominee if she were indicted, it would depend on the reason, and the evidence.

Seems the reason and evidence is obvious to everyone but you....

Based on any current evidence that I have seen, I would still vote for her.

It appears she forwarded some emails that were not marked confidential to authorized people via a personal server of unknown security.

While that seems ill-advised, I don't see it as something that disqualifies her and I assume the White House will have a secure server at her disposal.
