Shouldn't we - as a good "Christian" nation - have sympathy and compassion for CHILDREN that are being forced into military service? Instead of trying to imply that they are evil, and not worth consideration?

I wonder about this Christian thing sometimes.

For starters, you're saying 2 different things there. You are answering "yes" to his question, which implies that ALL of those children are fighters. That was his question.

Second, how do you know "many" are? Do you have links or stats?

Hamas continues recruiting child soldiers: Where is the condemnation?

Hamas says the youth need to be ready to make “sacrifices” which appears to be the language used to describe the terrorist group recruiting them to be killed.

Some 50,000 children have registered, according to The Jerusalem Post correspondent Khaled Abu Toameh.

And because of this all must be viewed as Hamas

Everyone is condemning Hamas.

You want people to CONDEMN CHILDREN that are being forced into military service? Am I reading that right?

And you have no compassion for children being forced to do this.

.

Yes I do

But I am also smart enough to know if I was a Jew they would kill me without thinking twice

Not all Pit bulls will attack or are trained to attack

But if one u dont know comes running around your little dog or 2 year old u better treat it like it may attack and pick up your child ASAP

I looked it up and indeed the 1988 charter said that. But a new charter was issued in 2017 without that language.

The 2017 charter accepted for the first time the idea of a Palestinian state within the borders that existed before 1967 and rejects recognition of Israel which it terms as the "Zionist enemy".[SUP][2][/SUP] It advocates such a state as transitional but also advocates "liberation of all of Palestine".[SUP][14][/SUP][SUP][15][/SUP] The new document also states that the group doesn't seek war with the Jewish people but only against Zionism which it holds responsible for "occupation of Palestine".[SUP][16][/SUP] Mashal also stated that Hamas was ending its association with the Muslim Brotherhood.[SUP][14][/SUP]

The Atlantic has often been my go to for leading liberal intellectual thought (this isn't saying I agree with what their writers say but it's my go to source). This goes into the weeds on both the 1988 and revised 2017 charter. Based on their actions, it's pretty clear nothing has changed with Hamas.

Understanding Hamas’s Genocidal Ideology

A close read of Hamas’s founding documents clearly shows its intentions.

Thanks, I'll give it a look. While you were reading that, I was reading this: https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2023-10-10/what-you-need-to-know-about-hamas
and found something scary. What do you think?

"There is a current of thought in Israel that successive leaders, starting with late Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in the early 2000s and through the Netanyahu years, quietly supported Hamas as a way to undermine the Palestinian Authority, which enjoyed international backing in the pursuit of a Palestinian state. If true, the strategy was a miscalculation that many analysts say allowed the formation of a Frankenstein’s monster.

As Hamas consolidated its power over the years, the Palestinian Authority became weaker, more corrupt and less respected. Led by 87-year-old Mahmoud Abbas for the last 18 years after his election in 2005 to a four-year term, the Palestinian leadership based in the West Bank has little authority and has been widely criticized for failing to stand up to Israel and to provide basic services to its citizens. Israel has only deepened and expanded its occupation of the West Bank, seizing homes and property from Palestinians and failing to stop Jewish settlers who have attacked Palestinian families.

Abbas and the Palestinian Authority have also failed to stem the proliferation of other Palestinian militias, who have taken control of parts of the West Bank and attacked settlers."

Kind of sucks acknowledging you don't know everything (lol) but I have to do so here. I just don't have enough knowledge in the weeds on this subject to read this and either say yes I think it's accurate or say no I don't and here's why.

I did see the WSJ had a big article today/tonight on how the U.S., Israel and its allies helped fund Hamas (not directly but how our money ended up in Hamas' hands). Like a lot of things in life, not everything is simple black and white.

The United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) is the second-largest employer in the territory after Hamas. UNRWA provides assistance in Gaza, which some say directly supports the Hamas terrorist organization.

Hamas stores their arms in UNRWA schools and has Hamas teaching the UNRWA schools.

I agree with that so much it's my main argument for almost anything that happens in the world. I say almost, because there's no argument that Hamas did an abominable thing and needs to pay for it. But I do worry about the children and civilians on both sides.

For clarification did you mean to say there’s no argument against saying Hamas did a terrible thing and needs to pay…?

We have teenage killers in the ghettos I'm pretty sure Gaza has them too.
