House Votes to Limit DOJ Funding Unless Holder Comes Clean

The House voted on a controversial funding limit amendment Wednesday evening to stop Attorney General Holder from lying to Congress.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) initiated the move to cut off Holder's DOJ allowance for 2013 unless he tells the truth about the gun walking operation known as Fast and Furious.

The amendment to H.R. 5326, an appropriations bill funding Holder's agency for 2013, was in response to a February 4, 2011 letter to Congress in which DOJ officials denied any involvement in
Operation Fast and Furious. Months later after damaging contradictions and discrepancies surfaced the Department was forced to rescind the letter.

In a 381-41 vote, House members including 142 Democrats, overwhelmingly sided with Chaffetz. The peoples' representatives decided taxpayer monies should not be used to support liars.

But the best
expression of outrage over the DOJ's above-the law attitude came from Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC).

There hasn't been a demotion, there hasn't been a firing, there hasn't been a sanction, there hasn't been a frowny-face on a performance evaluation.

I'm thinking there are some politicians who have reached their limit of patience with Holder and Company. Not even one darn frowny-face.

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) told the Daily Caller "It's abundantly clear that when it comes to cooperating with Congress, the Attorney General's arrogance knows no bounds."

What actually happened was the House passed a bill that said you can use money to violate the law prohibiting false statements to Congress. There's nothing about Holde,r the DOJ, or Fast and Furious in it. It's basically a law that says you can't break the law. It's pointless.

Huh....it's not like Holder fired 7 Attorneys General for not supporting a specific agenda.

Oh, wait...that was the last guy.

Of course we all know that F&F was just a continuation of 'Operation Wide Receiver', which was started in the previous administration.

As to Holder,

There were nuances to the story. Weekly DOJ reports like the one cited in the CBS story are stuffed with general information about a host of Department programs, making it possible if not excusable that Holder glossed over it at the time. Still, Tracy Schmaler, a DOJ spokesman, noted that Holder had said both in March and May of 2011 that he became aware of the "questionable tactics employed in the Fast and Furious Program in early 2011 when ATF [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] agents first raised them publicly."
‪“As the documents provided to Congress show, not a single one of these reports referenced the controversial tactics that allowed guns to cross the border, and in fact, in one example provided to Congress consisted of a single sentence referencing a Phoenix-based operation," Schmaler added. "None of the handful of entries in 2010 regarding the Fast and Furious suggested there was anything amiss with that investigation requiring leadership to take corrective action or commit to memory this particular operation prior to the disturbing claims raised by ATF agents in the early part of 2011
."

Holy fucking bat shit yes! And Webbway was the guy who posted this? Sty, you need to up your game.
besides being a very busy day at work, I did read about this early this morning. the only problem with the whole deal is that the 'defunding' is only a million dollars. not much when the DOJ operates on a 25 billion dollar budget. Holder won't really give a damn about this.

There isn't any defunding at all. It's legislative theater..

The House on Tuesday afternoon voted to cut $1 million from the Department of Justice in a 2013 appropriations bill in retaliation for Justice's failure to respond to Republican questions about the origins of the "Fast and Furious" gun-walking operation that led to the death of a U.S. border patrol agent.

But the other side is worse! :D Darned partisan sheeple.

SmarterThanFew prefers to shoot those he thinks have violated his rights. Strangely, no one ever has, although he cries about such violations frequently.
