1. they can do something about it. they are in charge of enforcing DOMA, making executive changes in the military. a president can use the bully pulpit to convince people and the congress to change laws. the president can also appoint scotus justices who are pro gay marriage. it is absolute non sense that the president can do nothing about it. you're very naive.

2. it an issue because he could lose votes. he took a risk. if this was really a non issue as you claim, there would be no risk for him.

i dont think it's much of a gamble. I think it's an attempt to woo back independents and moderates from romney, given how much romney is crushing in the category

Old people go to the polls in large numbers. Old peope are narrow minded and backwards about homosexuals.

Young people are more open minded and accepting of homosexuals, but unfortunately, they don't vote.

It is why the discrepancy.

It is most unfortunate.

When the boomers no longer vote, it will be better for homosexuals.

Got a source for the claim that Rmoney is "crushing" Obama among independents and moderates? I don't think that's actually true.

i agree. i don't think this move was without risk. i applaud him for doing it. to many people this is a serious issue and for all the votes he may get for it, it is likely he could lose more votes because of it.

now...if he would just come out with a legalize marijuana stance...i would have to say...that would tip my vote in his favor.

I've done my homework and know that the claim is not true. That's why I asked for a source. I don't think there is one.

Also, too, we all know you aren't going to vote for Obama and that you are going to vote for Rmoney. Just drop the pretense already. You aren't fooling anyone. I know it's hip to be an "independent" because that's what all the cool kids are doing, but let's get real.

- scenario 1: seeing a claim, going to google, trying to find some backup for that claim or related story, coming up empty, and asking for source of claim for a link
- scenario 2: seeing a claim, and asking source of claim for a link
