Don't argue politics with a Liberal friend...

Here is my general internal reaction to political personalities:

I view most liberals as naive, 4 year old children, that wont shut the fuck up and that I want to kick in the face. Sometimes they can be endearing with the silly shit they believe.

Conservatives I view as really cranky, wrinkled old people that cross their arms and wont listen to you, they do this because they are stubborn and resentful at the world passing them by, they can't keep up with society anymore, so they decide to throw a wrench into the spokes and fuck your shit up as well. Because if they aren't having fun, no one can. These are the type of people that simply need to die. There is no other cure, we need them to die off so I can smoke weed legally.

I'm for sensible gun control. I'd rather not see people on the terrorist watch list, and those with a history of domestic violence (you know, like your buddy Zimmerman), stalking, violent crimes, etc, be able to get guns. They should not be able to. That's obvious to anyone who is not a nutter.

As for concealed carry laws, I live in NY, and I like it that way. You live in Texas, knock yourself out. I could give a shit. Don't try and shove your Texas values down my throat, and I'll return the favor. I avoid red states like the plague anyway.
 
So basically, you told her you think the government should regulate her uterus, and you're surprised that she was offended? Wow, okay.

how familiar are you with the terrorist watch list, otherwise known as the no fly list? remember ted kennedy being on it? how many others, who do not have the political influence that ted had, that may be on it and not have 2nd Amendment rights would it take for you to realize that maybe your idea of using that list to prevent gun ownership is a 'bad idea'? and besides allegations of domestic violence, Zimmerman had no convictions on his record that would have prevented him 'by law' from owning or carrying a gun, so maybe you'd like to see your 'sensibilities' (translate this as your fears) reduce the threshold needed to deny a citizen their rights?

just to be clear, you LIKE it that only politically connected people like politicians and the wealthy get concealed carry permits while everyone else who is just a prole, like yourself in this instance, is denied that right? and as far as 'values' goes, is it also a 'value' to deny certain fundamental rights to people just because of the state that they live in?

I'm having a difficult time believing that liberals believe in freedom and rights while pursuing more restrictions on them.

Yes, I would. A history of DV allegations should preclude gun ownership. I am fine with that.

In NY, you can get a permit to carry a concealed gun, but first, well, you have to have a permit, and you have to show cause. For instance, if you are a business owner, or your role in a business is to make deposits, you would be able to get one. So your claim that it's only politicians who can get one is just silly and uninformed.

Like I said, I'll stay here, you stay there! Works fine for me. But then, I have no authoritarian impulses and do not feel compelled to force my values on to Texans. The same can't be said about you.
 
I've had gun rights guys argue that mere background checks & registrations are unconstitutional, because they represent "infringement."

Even something like freedom of speech isn't unlimited - nor should it be. Limits are not infringements.

it's not misinformed. You made my point, that politically connected or wealthy people (this includes business owners handling large amounts of money) can easily get one. Basically, you're being a hypocrite by decrying people of wealth, yet providing them with more rights than the average citizen. thanks for showing your hypocrisy.

pure unadulterated bullshit. the constitution restricts government, not the people. therefore, any process that forces a citizen to ask permission from government to exercise a fundamental right is infringement.
