Is Zimmerman a hero for racists?

In any event, he is not a latino or a hispanic. See? Simple.

Incorrect. Depending on how he lists it, he is Latino or Hispanic. Just as much as the President is African-American. We can't have it both ways. It's like saying his mom is white because she married a white dude. It just doesn't make it happen. His skin is darker, he looks Latino, he'll be treated as a Latino by people who meet him. That's Latino.

This attempt to say his "blood" isn't Latino enough is ridiculous, unless you believe that the President should be called white you are being hypocritical, and this argument probably is one made by the very white racists the thread mentions in the title. Not "pure" enough you know...

It's gross, I dismiss it outright as a disgusting display of deep hypocrisy and ugly racism. The guy isn't any more white than the President.

I think the Prez is plenty white enough to be called white. Would you have a problem with that? Zimmerman is not latino or hispanic. You simply can't get color, origin, appearance and all that mixed up. Zimmerman is an American Jew or so I am made to believe.

And here we have an example of that very racism. I don't care if you call the President white, he's as white as I am...

However, dismissing a whole section of his genetic heritage because you want to call him a "cracker" is just a stupid tactic of racially motivated hypocrites. The scary Latino guy is in jail now, don't worry...

Taking the easy way out, eh? You know you're full of crap.

He looks Italian to me. Sheesh.

He looks Latino. Like the friends I grew up with, some of which were just as equally as white as the President. IMO, the attempt to ignore his ethnic heritage is made solely by those who think that they can make some political points using it as a wedge to divide people into camps.

He also looks Lebanese, or otherwise Mid-Eastern, or North African or even Indian or round eyed Thai, maybe even a mixed breed Viet Namese or Phillipino.

Just what does a latino look like, damo? Being the slow one, I don't think you're catching on to what I'm saying to you. Easy but hard for ya? I think you're the one dividing into camps, dumbo.

I disagree, in this case the specific attempt to, like you did earlier, make him "Jewish" etc. is a direct result of those who want to make this a white/black thing, pushing a divide that they believe will make their political party more likely to "win" especially if they can make it appear as if one side is supporting the "white guy" over the "black guy"...

To stress the "race" of one side and ignore it on the other is hypocrisy, the pretense that the other dude isn't minority is pretense based in that particular attempt to divide. The dude isn't ashamed of his Latino heritage, why should you be afraid to talk about it?

Yeah, we should stop calling the President black because he's half white...

The reality is, he is as white as the President. He's Latino, even if you don't like it. And his mother is Paraguayan, not Peruvian.

Well, sorry, but it was your people that decided to come up with the "one drop rule", back in the day...where a mulatto or mixed individual could be as fair as Jasmine Guy, or Mariah Carey, and still be considered "black". Besides, despite the realities, no one is going to confuse President Obama with being "white"...he identifies as "African-American", per the census.
And I stand corrected on his South American Indian heritage. And people are not always what they appear to be.

Likewise, no one who sees Zimmerman is going to confuse him with being 'white' either.

Yeah, right. If President Obama were Barack Obama, Harvard law student, his ass would have been profiled by a white cop, pulled over and harassed, if not arrested, for little of nothing. That's how white he is.

Doesn't negate the fact that his "white" ex-judge father used his white privilege and influence to see to it that he was released from custody.

By all means... do elaborate. What did his father do to exert 'white' privilege to get his son out?

Damo, it's already happened, in this very forum. Any of the whites who have been accused of being racist or bigoted, have demonstrated, overwhelmingly, support for Zimmerman, and his inability to receive a "fair trail', because of being convicted in the court of public opinion and in the media. And by the way, his last name is Zimmerman. He is a mulatto, half Peruvian descent, half German (Jew?). Stop calling him Latino.

Just as soon as you stop referring to Obama as being Black.

It wasn't "my people". If the "one drop" rule counts as you claim then "my people" were here long before you, forced to march across the plains, took "your people" along with them and made them full-fledged members of their nation until just recently. And if the "one drop" rule counts as you claim, the dude is Latino.

Graffiti appeared on the side of a building at Ohio State University, related to the Trayvon Martin case.

The spray painted message read: "Long live Zimmerman."

It was painted on the side of the campus cultural center, a building that houses organizations which promote diversity at the school.

While I suspect that the guy is neither a Hero or a Racist, he will be used by extreemists on both sides as a posterchild.

He is also not anymore non-white than the President.
