The GOP's continued war on women.

What does this have to do with competition?

That's just it, wacko. The GOP simply serves up the fairness and genuine competition platter to be smell tested. It never passes the smell tests but they offer them up anyway. I guess they think them an evil joke to be played on their most ardent red neck supporters. Go figure?

I'm asking what the legislation has to do with competition.

I won't go back to a,b,c's or 2 + 2 with you, wacko, but the gist of Walker's proposals is to improve competitiveness or so he says. I don't buy it at all. Do you?

Increasing competitiveness to me means paying the best for the best talent. If the top talent is female and a company tries to lowball her because she is a female and that woman goes somewhere else that the company that tried to lowball her just lost a top talent and could hurt its reputation in the marketplace.

An "equal pay" law does nothing for me in terms of increasing competitiveness.

I don't know just what utopia you're living in. Here in the real world women presently earn on average 77 cents for every dollar that a man earns FOR THE EXACT WORK.

I don't really call the business world utopia but it is something different to each individual. Would you like to cite your $0.77 claim?

Yea. Let me cite it for you again. Women on average make 77 cents for every dollar men make FOR THE EXACT WORK. No claim. It's a fact.

I mean WTF, PiMP. I know you think we are all stupid but Jesus Christ. If that particular law doesn't have punitive or compensatory punishments for violaters what the fuck good is it?

So what's next PiMP? Get rid of child labor laws?

Well, now that you mention it I recall some philandering, Tiffany customer mentioning toilet cleaning for school kids. :)

It's a fact because you say so or because you've heard others quote that number and you assume they are correct?

If you have additional information or a competent rebuttal I'm all ears. Right now I'm sticking with my own facts.

And this equal pay law has done exactly what? If what you say is correct and the law says you have to pay a woman the same amount you pay a man for the same job how is there a discrepancy?

You don't have to do anything, wacko. And I doubt seriously if you have the fortitude or the wherewithal to employ anyone male or female. I would do the correct thing. I pay women identically to men in the same job classification or doing the same work regardless of classification. It's the American way as I was raised to believe.

So a few posts ago you said I live in a utopian world when I said a company would lose top talent if they tried to pay women less and yet here you claim you would do the exact same thing. Ok.

And why would you pay a woman the exact same thing as a man for the same job if she is better? You don't believe woman should earn more money if they are better qualified and have shown better performance?

I've been out there in the real world a long time, wacko. In a team of 25 employees with identical job classifications all have attributes and all have failings and in the final analyses there ain't a dimes worth of difference in any of them. If I want to pay them differently I would put them on a commission based income. Unfortunately most jobs can't be compensated in that manner therefore the classification and/or step method is the best in those instances. I know what workplace and job standards are all about and I monitor and test regularly.

I worked seven years on full commissoin. That is about as entrepreneurial as you can get. It can be a tough way to make a living. Some great highs with long stretches of lows. I worked with some tough tough woman who kicked *ss first and asked questions later and made large amounts of money. Now I understand most jobs aren't on a commission only basis but I know these women I worked with/competed with aren't the only women like that. I have no problem paying a woman more than a man in a heartbeat if I feel she will do a better job.

Can you justify your "feelings" in a court of law? If not I suggest you comply with the letter and spirit of the law and compensate accordingly.

I'm not a lawyer but if you say pay is based on experience etc. that is enough cover as an employer. My philosophy is I want the best people for the job and I don't care about their sex or their race. As my grandfather taught me he said he didn't like white or black he liked green. I am the same way.

You're confusing the issue again. It's not about what you and your granddad like. It's whether you can justify your actions in a court of law and whether you are in compliance with the letter and spirit of the laws and the orders of the courts. But, like I said earlier, you can do whatever you like. Just remember there are consequences when you are wrong.
