Gender rating

Bravs - it really is difficult talking to you, because you really are braindead.

Again, the line you said, which I have isolated so you can think about it more clearly: "Why the hell do you expect strangers to take responsibility for your choices...."

That really can't mean anything else. You don't want anyone else to pay for injury or illness that results from anyone's choice. That is what GROUP HEALTH PLANS ARE. That is what pretty much all health plans are.

Eat it, dumbo.

No they are not......do you think Walmart premiums per employee are the same as Exxon Mobil or Phila. Elect......hardly.....

Group Health Plans are for a group....a particular group....can you go to Sears and join their Group Plan and be a race car driver....????

Get a clue dude.....

Insurance companies take the risk of the group into account ALL THE TIME.....what the fuck to do think the girls have been bitching about for half the posts....
they are saying they are charged more because of some higher risk or problems that men don't have.....you cant' have it both ways.

It says they use the health care more but I don't see where it says the company pays out more money because of this. It all depends on the nature of the usage.

Example: woman has 3 yearly exams at $75/ea. for 10 years, total amount insurance pays is $2250. Man has no usage for 9 years and in year 10 suffers a coronary, total amount insurance pays $60,000+.

look obviously there will be a random guy that ends up getting more out of the system. the point is, on average, men take out less. therefore, statistically, insurance companies save money by charging higher premiums of women. you can't just isolate the outliers.

The writer was talking about the same coverage. She's not saying "except for maternity benefits or prostate exams", she's saying the same coverage.

A woman who buys her own health insurance in Ohio can count on paying more than a man for the same coverage, because of a discriminatory practice called gender rating. For many women, this can put affordable, comprehensive coverage out of reach.

President Obama's health-care law will ban such practices once it is fully implemented, but until then they remain a widespread problem.

In Ohio, 100 percent of the best-selling individual health insurance plans practice gender rating, and 100 percent exclude maternity coverage.

One plan charges a 40-year-old woman $371 more in annual premiums than a 40-year-old man for the same coverage. Another charges $669 more.
Nationwide, the effect of these discrepancies can be staggering. A new analysis by the National Women's Law Center finds that gender rating costs women approximately $1 billion a year.

yes, and women use this "same coverage" far more often. thus the higher price.

How do you men feel about gender ratings for car insurance, since he brought it up? Adult males are charged at a higher rate because they are high risk. They are also charged higher life insurance premiums for dying sooner. I have always thought this unfair, how do the men feel?

it' completely fair.

For some reason women often have to pay the price for not carrying a "y" chromosome. Insurance rates, salaries, even dry cleaning or tailoring. It's an accepted practice in a man's world to justify this unfairness with stupid illogic and "the girls" have seen plenty in this thread.

All legit gripes, sweetheart.....bitch to your hearts desire......just don't ask me to pay for your contraceptives.....

They aren't really necessary are they.......you can live without them......

Don't make stupid choices and you'll never need them in great quantity....so they should never become a
financial burden on you..........you pick your partner, so pick a responsible one that thinks of your safety and health.
