Gender rating

Its the woman's body... should she not be the one to take care of it and the costs associated with doing so? If you on the one hand eliminate men from the decision on what happens if their mutual act results in a child and the woman decides to opt for the metal spike rather than the life of the child... why should men then also share the costs of insurance for a woman? He gets to pay but has no say?

I wonder - if we could survey something like this, how many abortions have been performed over the loud objections of the men involved?

Women get diagnostic services because the doctor recommends it, not because they walk into the facility and ask for an MRI. But that's another discussion.

MRI's should be covered by insurance.....whats your point?

So if he recommends you get to the gym and exercise, you want us to pay for your gyp membership......?

He recommends you don't drink or smoke or take drugs, do you obey every order......?

I wonder - if we could survey something like this, how many abortions have been performed over the loud objections of the men involved?

irrelevant to my point, but it would be interesting to see. How many women actually told the man? How many of the ones that did 'allowed' the man to provide input? How many of those objected to an abortion?

Why......?....One is enough, and its never mattered before and won't change anything....women would riot.

So basically a bunch of liberals are once again trying to make everything 'equal' with regards to paying for something regardless of the usage.

I understand that you had the good fortune to be born a male and that you would like to maintain the benefits of that good fortune, but it is perfectly within the powers of the government to enact regulations such that women aren't forced to pay more for something simply due to the fact that they are women. Like I said, I understand that you oppose it as it does not benefit you and detracts the benefits conferred upon you by virtue of being born male, but let's just be honest about it. That's all I'm asking.

The fact remains....

Fucking is your choice....take responsibility for its unintended consequences .... whether its disease or pregnancy......(pregnancy is not a disease)
I preferred a prophylactic rather than gonorrhea......it was MY responsibility to not get a disease ...

Why the hell do you expect strangers to take responsibility for your choices....

Maybe you and your wife don't share the same diagnostic services or specialty care. But in my mind most body organs are gender-neutral. And women shouldn't have to pay more than men to get their inflamed gall bladders or appendices diagnosed and removed.

Removal of organds can only be a one time expense and are the same for a man with a removed organ and a woman. Its recurring expenses that cause womens healthcare to be more expensive. 4 trips to the dr in a year by a woman is FOUR times as expensive as a mans single visit to that same dr.

Well, its due to the fact that they are women, combined with the fact that women use more healthcare services.

So, using your logic - and you'll deny that this is what you're saying w/ the above, but it's exactly what you're saying - no disease or injury that comes about from someone's personal choices should be covered under group health plans?

Of course I deny that....that isn't what the thread is about, or did you just jump into the middle of it.....

The thread is about 'birth control'....and it is the personal responsibility of every person to guard against injury to himself.....

Do you want the state to buy you a reflective vest for you cycle riding ?......Or snow tires for your winter driving.....No....

but women expect others to pay for their own protection against STD's and pregnancy.....

Man or women...its you body, take precautions against injury....its the fuckin' least we can expect you to do on your own....

Oh - so the logic of "you shouldn't be covered if the action is your choice" only applies to birth control or anything sex-related?

My, is that convenient.

LMAO... they aren't paying more for the 'same' thing. They are paying based on the fact that they use the thing 'more frequently'.

I understand you liberals want to try and pass the costs onto others as much as you can. It is what you live for... creating as little personal responsibility for yourself as possible. It is pathetic.

So should men also pay for womens pedicures, I mean women get that done more frequently, shouldn't men have to pay for that too?

As a man, I consume more food than women (well, most women) are women going to start footing the bill for their fair share?

I understand you want to appear all enlightened and all, but this is just becoming nonsense.

The thing they pay more for is health insurance. The same health insurance men purchase. Women pay more for health insurance because they utilize more healthcare services and they utilize more health care services because they are women.

So you want to hold women "personally responsible" for being born women? OK. I don't want to "try and pass costs onto others as much as I can" but to equalize the costs that result from not having your good fortune of being born make.

So should men also pay for womens pedicures, I mean women get that done more frequently, shouldn't men have to pay for that too?

How are pap smears and mamograms, on the one hand, and pedicures, on the other, remotely similar?

As a man, I consume more food than women (well, most women) are women going to start footing the bill for their fair share?

I would advocate for no sex discrimination in the food insurance marketplace. Would that satisfy you?

I understand you want to appear all enlightened and all, but this is just becoming nonsense.

There's some nonsense here, alright, but it ain't coming from me.

For all the men complaining about "paying for women's birth control."

Health-care law to end gender rating

A woman who buys her own health insurance in Ohio can count on paying more than a man for the same coverage, because of a discriminatory practice called gender rating. For many women, this can put affordable, comprehensive coverage out of reach.

President Obama's health-care law will ban such practices once it is fully implemented, but until then they remain a widespread problem.

In Ohio, 100 percent of the best-selling individual health insurance plans practice gender rating, and 100 percent exclude maternity coverage.

One plan charges a 40-year-old woman $371 more in annual premiums than a 40-year-old man for the same coverage. Another charges $669 more.
Nationwide, the effect of these discrepancies can be staggering. A new analysis by the National Women's Law Center finds that gender rating costs women approximately $1 billion a year.

Insurance companies are aware of the problem, but have not voluntarily taken steps to eliminate it. That's why provisions of the health-care law that will roll out in 2014 prohibit gender rating in the individual insurance market, require all plans on the individual market to provide maternity coverage, and prohibit sex discrimination in health plans from insurance companies that receive federal funds.

The practice of gender rating is not going away by itself. This national problem demands a national solution. We have one in the health-care law.

I've read this entire thread and all I can say is there are a couple of strange men posting here. The cost of birth control, taken as a whole shared among men, is small pittance if it results in a women's urge to merge. I mean, what the hell are they thinking? They're going to bitch about contributing pocket change resulting in women not wanting to......

I can't believe what I read! Men will spend hundreds of dollars on clothes and dinners and drinks, thousands of dollars on cars....all in the hopes of snagging a gal but refuse to chip in for something that will prevent pregnancy, a major concern of women? What the hell are they thinking? :palm:

On that note it's siesta time here. My head needs a rest. :(

Liberal bullshit and propaganda....

Do they get PSA tests and prostate exams ?

I guess you think mountain climbers and sky divers should pay the same for insurance as the insurance salesman ?

There's some nonsense here, alright, but it ain't coming from me.

Yeah, there's some nonsense here, alright and its all come from you with this moronic post....
