Zimmerman - A Hispanic Registered Democrat

You liar!!

The phone call shows Martin being the first one to ask a question.
Why are you bending this, unless you're afraid that Martin might just be the guilty one.

The girl was on the phone with Trayvon when Zimmerman approached him and asked him what he was doing.

I am not lying, it is her account of what happened, it differs from what Zimmerman has stated. Police have varified that the girl was on the phone with Trayvon at the time she stated.

The girlfriend will testify before the grand jury in April.

If you were walking down the street and a complete stranger asked who you are, I'll bet your answer wouldn't be "my name is STY and I live on 1313 Mockingbird Lane".

If it were me, I'd respond with "who are you and why do you want to know?"
but i'm guessing that punching and slamming said persons head on the concrete would not be one of your answers, right?

Then you need to provide documented proof that prior to the confronatation that it was Zimmerman approaching Martin and not Martin approaching Zimmerman, as Zimmerman was walking back to his car.

The girlfriend will testify before the grand jury in April.

And how is she going to testify as to where Martin was and who approached who; because all she has is what Martin said on the phone and there is nothing to support that it was Zimmerman who made the initial contact.

so after zimmerman confronted martin, non violently at that time i'm guessing or the girlfriend would have said otherwise, something happened to cause zimmerman to head back towards his car and martin to attack him from behind. or are you going to stick with the insane notion that stopping someone to ask them who they are is stalking?

"Zimmerman told investigators that Martin jumped him from behind, punched him in the nose and pounded his head into a sidewalk..."

You want me to take Zimmerman's words at face value and dismiss the girlfriend's words, I suppose. You want me to take it as a given that Martin made the first move on Zimmerman, but you have no evidence of that. Sorry, no can do.

But that's because Martin is black and that automatically tips your scales of justice.

no, i want you to see that there are differing sides, nobody has any real facts except the police, and that zimmermans guilt or innocence shouldn't be cast yet.

I understand there are differing sides depending on the individual reading the evidence. But I have a really hard time getting past the fact that a young man was needlessly, senselessly shot to death. Zimmerman isn't innocent; he's guilty of causing the death of a teenager. What's in question is whether the killing was justified.

at this point we do not KNOW if it was needlessly, nor would zimmerman be guilty of a crime if the shooting was justified. your misinterpretations of things due to your utopian viewpoint really doesn't serve you well.

like we have been trying to tell you, you've already made up your mind about the case based on little evidence. that you don't see it is mind boggling.

your last sentence is correct, however, you completely contradict yourself.

How about you telling me what you think Martin should have done, right from the beginning.

And unless Martin's fingerprints are on the gun, or some other deadly weapon handled by Martin turns up, I fail to see how the shooting was justified.

Why don't you offer an opinion of what really happened and what Martin should have done to avoid getting killed, instead of the same old crap of pretending you know so much more than anybody else.

martin should have either just kept walking to where he was headed instead of attacking zimmerman, or he could have stopped and answered the questions, not that he had to do that, or instead of calling his girlfriend, he could have called 911 as well. and your idea of a fair fight is ludicrous. nobody has to stand there and go toe to toe with someone if they don't want to be beat on.

How about just maybe Martin is responsible for his own death.
There's enough proof to suggest that he assualted Zimmerman, tried to take his weapon, and ended up being shot for his aggressive assaultive behavior.

How about if Martin was so scared of Zimmerman; that he should have avoided confronting him, once he had evaded him.
Then after confronting him; maybe, just maybe, he shouldn't have assaulted Zimmerman.

Or how about this little bit of fact.
He had a phone, he could have called 911 and reported that he was being followed and felt unsafe.
Why didn't he do that, instead of talking to his girlfriend?

If he was trying to take Zimmermans weapon, doesn't mean that viable fingerprints are going to be available.
Try to take a weapon away from a Policeman and see how long you survive.

how does - i don't know exactly what happened = i know more than anyone else?

it is impossible to offer an opinion. who knows what happened after the phone call. at one point zimmerman claims martin is coming towards him with his hand in his waiste band, then martin runs...zimmerman chases after him and that is all we have on the phone. any opinion beyond that is wild speculation.

I really don't get you. We're forum posters, not the FL authorities. We're commenting on a current event and since we have the actual words of Zimmerman only, anything we write about Martin is going to be opinion and speculation, based on what's been made public so far.

IMO this case is an unsolved mystery. There's still a big X factor about Martin because he's not alive to tell his side of the story. Not to trivialize but it's like a real-life werewolf game where you start out with little info and work your way to the end based on the words of others. We all look at the info in different ways according to our worldview and/or preconceived notions. Maybe I'm biased because I have a teen-aged boy and I know what he's been taught about stranger danger all his life. Rightly or wrongly, I don't see you and some of the others having much sympathy for a boy who ended up dead yet that's the bottom line for me, Zimmerman overstepped his bounds and Martin died as a result.

So you teach your son to go back and confront the stranger, after running away from him?
Do you also teach him ways to get suspended from school?

LOL, how many times has SmarterThanFew boasted about what he'd do if his rights were violated?

But a black kid doesn't have the same right to refuse to be intimidated by a wannabe cop?
