Tennessee legislators tell women to kiss privacy good-bye

your kidding, right?.....the CDC has been publishing data about age, race, county, marital status, education level, number of children, the location of the procedure and number of pregnancies for decades

Try to discern the difference between voluntary and mandated.

Are states required to report their abortion statistics to CDC?

No, states and areas voluntarily report data to CDC for inclusion in its annual Abortion Surveillance Report. CDC's Division of Reproductive Health prepares surveillance reports as data becomes available. There is no national requirement for data submission or reporting.

And

Can I obtain a public use dataset for my own analysis?

No public use dataset is available. For other data sources and estimates related to abortion, we suggest searching the MEDLINE/PubMed or MedlinePlus bibliographic reference services of the National Library of Medicine.

obviously......I think the problem here is you idiots either believe or are pretending that identifying information is actually going to be made public.....I would like to think you aren't that stupid, but then I would have to believe you're all completely dishonest......these are statistics, people!

Your sneering scorn is noted. We both know you don't give a rat's ass about privacy and would like nothing more than to have these women identified and flogged in the public square. And if a doctor gets killed by some remorseless nut, you'd call it collateral damage.

You've evaded my question. The data submitted to CDC is voluntary. It's not mandated by law. That's a significant difference. The Tennessee law makes this compulsory. This is an invasion of privacy who's only intent is to humiliate the women having these procedures.

So back to my question. What is the intent of this mandated reporting and how is that not an invasion of privacy?

You mean State sanctioned rape, don't you?

Actually, in Idaho "rape" is the excuse women use to get abortions:

The sponsor of an Idaho mandatory ultrasound bill, state Sen. Chuck Winder, made some highly controversial comments Monday during his closing arguments, suggesting women might falsely use rape as an excuse to obtain an abortion.

Just before the Idaho's Senate passed the bill, which requires woman to have an ultrasound prior to obtaining an abortion, opponents of the bill pointed out that it makes no exception for rape victims, incest victims or women in medical emergencies.

Winder, a Republican from Boise, responded to those concerns by raising the question of whether women understand when they have been raped.

“Rape and incest was used as a reason to oppose this," Winder said on the Senate floor. "I would hope that when a woman goes in to a physician with a rape issue, that physician will indeed ask her about perhaps her marriage, was this pregnancy caused by normal relations in a marriage or was it truly caused by a rape. I assume that's part of the counseling that goes on.”

I'm really sorry I had to read that. That's the war on women that the GOP is waging, and it's so obvious they consider women liars, sluts, children, and idiots. Even subhumans.

But if you say that, righties freak out and throw temper tantrums.

It can't be denied though. Any woman who votes for these animals is someone IMO who is beneath contempt. As far as men go, the men on the right who don't really agree with all this (you know, too much...in some ways kinda sorta, but hey, don't get carried away either), are much like some men on the left. Both wish women would STFU and STFD so we could talk about serious issues that effect real people. You know, the menz.

Well you women do have the numbers so don't be like a libertarian and do something about it.

what bullshit.....I would have expected people with the ability to figure out how to come here and post would know what 'demographics' meant.......

when your phone company sells information that says 7% of their customers are white males who have not yet purchased a home and make ten calls a month to places selling take out food, do you think that means people can track what Superfreak likes for supper?......

You of course realize, being an expert on statistics and all, that every additional statistical data set further narrows down the list?

If your above example said... White male, age 29, living in Douglas County, doesn't own a home, makes ten calls a month to take out, college graduate, single, no kids

Then yes... there is a damn good chance they can target a person. If you only use three, then it is not as likely.

Abortion privacy over the preservation of life. What a bunch of assholes....

I believe in the right to life. I believe that every individual deserves basic human rights protections. Now tell us... what does this law do other than put targets on people that are abiding by current law?

We both know you don't give a rat's ass about privacy and would like nothing more than to have these women identified and flogged in the public square.

and if it wasn't clear to everyone that you were a fucking idiot before, it is now established without question......you are totally dishonest.....

only if one were stupid enough to believe or dishonest enough to imply that collecting demographic information is meant to identify, let alone humiliate anyone......in your case I believe it to be dishonesty.....why the fuck should we take you seriously?....
