Pat Robertson Calls For Relaxed Marijuana Possession Laws

Really dude? Did I say he was a hypocrite because he changed his opinion? Ever? Anywhere?

In the post I quoted you said (paraphrasing), "He had this opinion then changed it and that makes him a hypocrite."

In order to be a hypocrite, he would have to take one position then do the opposite thing, not just "reverse" his position. In this case Pat did no such thing, he wasn't using MJ while he thought it should be illegal. He simply changed his opinion, that is not hypocritical.

This is the quote yurt is blubbering on about.
Where did I say he is a hypocrite because he changed his stance?

Damo? Tom?

In order to "stop" being a hypocrite, one must first actually be a hypocrite. When asked how he was a hypocrite you keep insisting his changing his opinion means he is a hypocrite. We are simply pointing out that changing one's opinion does not make one a hypocrite.

In order to be a hypocrite one must DO something opposite to their opinion. In this case we are asking you what evidence you have that Pat Robertson has been smoking dope while saying it was bad. If you have no evidence of that, it means you are, at the very least, misapplying a word, at the most you are falsely accusing somebody purposefully.

No, I NEVER said that, not even once. In fact, I did give a detailed explanation of why I called him a hypocrite, with actual reasons. The rest of the BULLSHIT is all stuff yurt claims I said. So much for the "sword".

Next time investigate before rendering judgement.

In the post I quoted you said it nearly word for word.

You said his "reversal" was hypocritical. That is flat saying that changing his opinion is hypocritical. Which is a misapplication of the word at the very best and a direct purposeful misdirection at the worst.

At some point an intelligent person would stop after it was clear they were so very wrong.

Need some more, huh? What has Robertson's stand been on illegal drug use for the majority of his career? Opposed. Yes, that alone was being hypocritical AS PROVEN BY HIS REVERSAL.

Right here. Just so we know what I am talking about.

In this post you are clearly saying that he held "this position" then changed to "that one" and therefore is a hypocrite. Again. And slowly this time....

Changing your opinion is not hypocritical. In order to be a hypocrite he would need to be sucking down the drugs while being opposed to them. He did not do that.

GD. I said his reversal was proof he was a hypocrite. I never said what you are saying I said. Never, anywhere. Just didn't fucking happen.
The posts are all right there, quote it if I said it. Holy Shit.

Yo. His "reversal" was only a change of opinion. It is what you are saying. And it is probably the stupidest argument I have seen in a long time.

Slowly. Again. Hopefully. It. Will. Help.

A reversal of opinion is not hypocritical. Hypocritical is DOING something you preach against. A change of opinion (which is what a reversal is) does not fit that definition.

And that is three, even the Wicca among us will recognize this very simple truth.

Again, for the hard of thinking, I did not say changing his opinion made him a hypocrite. I said it prooved he had been one. This part seems to be the sticking point. Look at the actual words I used. Stop substituting your words for mine, or you will never see the truth, just your preconcieved notion of the truth.

NO. Giant assed emphatic NO. A hypocrite can also be one who says other than he believes. :palm:

It does not prove anything of the sort, I am pointing out that in order to be a hypocrite he would need to be using the drugs while saying that they should be illegal.

He did not do that.

You are saying his change of opinion proves something it does not prove, doing it very poorly, and incorrectly applying a word you clearly do not understand.

No he wouldn't. He is a hypocrite for myriad OTHER reasons, as I explained earlier in the thread. Holy closed mind Batman.

So everyone who changes their mind is a "hypocrite". Or do you really mean only Christians who change their mind? My, how hypocritical of you.

Sorry old friend, but I simply never said that.
Nowhere in this entire thread did I say or even imply that changing one's mind made them a hypocrite.

The words I did use have been twisted (and added to, to give that appearance by yurt, who is well known here for doing just exactly that.

And I clearly quoted the post I am talking to you about, several times, and pointed out how you are clearly wrong on this particular "point" you are trying to make.

His "reversal" is no indication of hypocrisy. Evidence of his drug use would be. You have none of that. Now. Every post I have read about his "hypocrisy" from you has to do with this "reversal" you seem to insist "proves" he is hypocritical.

Just to make it clear. It proves nothing of the sort, is misapplied, and from every example I have read in this thread you clearly do not understand what the word means.

Now, to use an analogy. It would be like a teetotaler who was for prohibition during the 20s later changing his mind after seeing how prohibition was destroying society. He still is a teetotaler, he just changed an opinion about whether there should be a law against it. The person would not be a hypocrite, they would be intelligent.
