When asked what the Militia was, George Mason, one of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution, said, "Who are the Militia? They consist now of the whole people, except for a few public officers."

it should be noted and very important that by granting a select group of people higher authority and more power over us as citizens with rights, we should enumerate their powers very specifically and remove those powers if abused, i.e. firearms for their official duties. There is nothing silly about this except for the delusions that people have in thinking 'it's always been this way'.

Except in Texas, where they're just a dance group.

This takes George Mason's explanation out of context.

Unless you deliberately ignore what "The People" meant in every other place in the constitution these people, each a citizen as much as you are, too have a right to own and bear arms. Saying you are a cop so that's what George Mason meant and you are therefore no longer of "the people" is just ignorance.

they'd still have the right.....just not on duty.

i've not seen but one texas politician in a dance group. That was GW after becoming president.

I didn't say anything about Politicians: but you apparently have a need to change this, because you don't like to be reminded of all those Militia "members" you're so close to. :)
