Is it right to hate the sin of homosexuality?

But you wil GET IT. :burn:
:good4u:
Yea well according to the Bible people who eat shell fish or work on the sabbath are of the same level of abomination as a man who would "know another man" and that they to should be killed and that it's also acceptable for me to sell my daughter into slavery for being a smart ass (though it leaves no guidelines what so ever as to how much you should charge.).

In the context of modern times. Why should I care?

I mean really those of the religious right who would rationalize scripture to deny gays their human rights are the same punks and thugs who advocated for slavery, supported Jim Crow, opposed women suffrage, oppose women making their own decisions about their own reproductive health and supported the genocide of millions of Native Americans so they could have their land.

I'd pretty much would have to say to them that before they start preaching scripture to me that maybe they should look into cleaning up their own houses of sin cause they aint exactly in a position to be casting stones nor deyning anyone their rights.

Cause last I checked there are only two universal themes in the Bible. Love and inclusiveness. God and Jesus love "ALL" their children. ALL OF THEM and I find it dificult to believe they would condemn any two people for loving each other.

As a Christian, I do believe homosexuality to be a sin. However, I'm also able to separate my personal beliefs from matters of civil government. Accordingly, I am for gay marriage and full equality for gay couples. I'm even warming up to the idea of applying it to all the States via the 14th Amendment equal protection clause.

As much as I believe homosexuality to be a sin, though, it's no different than a variety of other sins, and the Church seriously needs to change its tone on the issue.

I want to thank you for your very well thought out post; but to put things in context, my post was in response to Disillusioned comment. :)

Does anyone remember the days when men were men? After reading some of the comments you can see clearly how those who are opposed to homesexual life style have gotten it correct. While the others need to lay off the estrogen and stop trying so hard to kiss the communist media's ass.

Yeah those good ol' days when men could beat their wives whenever they want? Or when they could lynch folks when they wanted?

I'm sorry if you miss the days when being macho was the ultimate attribute. But luckily most of us have moved beyond that. I do not need to prove my manliness. In fact, if you do need to prove it you aren't much of a man.

I am a man. But allowing gays to marry will not effect that in least. If you are a "real man", neither allowing gay marriage nor keeping it outlawed will change that.

So, Little t, tell us all how allowing gays to marry will effect your life or how it makes any man less of a man? I'm sure you had a point.

Really what it boils down to is that the yellow bellies who are afraid of gays fear them cause of their supposed feminine characteristics. I've always maintained that "Show me a fag basher and I'll show you a mysoginist.". Deep down inside the real truth is that they hate and fear gays because they hate and fear women.

It's really so sad that guys like you are so scared and insecure about your masculinity that you have to demonize others who you feel threatend by it through feminine behavior. Sad....real sad.

Christians should be kind, patient, willing to forgive and gracious.

This does not mean wholesale acceptance and toleration of any behavior. No one tolerates unconditionally, God especially.

Even homosexuals themselves show intolerance when they say we shouldn’t be doing what we do.

Our society is intolerant of rapists, murders, thieves, as well as many other behaviors, and this is a good thing. We all have a moral system that discriminates against behaviors that we believe to be immoral, unjust, and wrong.

The real question is, is homosexuality right or is it wrong? However one answers this, they must appeal to a moral standard to make a judgment one way or the other (saying homosexuality is OK is making a judgment).

Our ultimate standard is God the Creator and what we believe to be His written revelation to mankind, the Bible.

If one rejects this standard then what standard can they appeal to?

Love the sinner, hate the sin. Typical stuff.
